Special features include a built-in web browser (reference surfing), with drag and drop download of pdfs (requires institutional access privileges) and web pages from PubMed, Amazon, and Google Scholar, and the display of book cover art (Amazon).
Note: The Internet search features of Reference Miner, and much more, are built into Bookends.

(lower pane) is formatted for easier comprehension.

the Go to PubMed button, Reference Miner will query PubMed
for the link to the full-text article and, if found, open
it in your browser. If a link is not available, or is not
found within 3 seconds, the PubMed citation will be shown
instead. Depending on your location and/or institutional
support, you may be asked for verification and/or payment
for the full-text article at the journal's web site. To
avoid the check for a full-text article, hold down the
Shift key. If more than one reference is selected when you
click on Go to PubMed, Bookends will show them all in the
PubMed citation format in your browser. You can then ask
for the full-text article in the browser.
• Print reference information. The Print Details Pane menu
item (File menu) prints the lower pane of the Reference
Miner window (contains book information and reviews
[Amazon] or the formatted citation plus abstract [PubMed]).
Use the Page Setup menu item to set printing options.
• Results of searches with 10 hits or less are shown
immediately.
