Re: 10.2.1: Reference surfing is very nice

Jon,

The new one-click download is excellent. Thanks very much.

One possible suggestion: allow a preference to remember "import into Hits list" & "Downlaod PDF" settings.

Cheers,
Shayne

Re: 10.2.1: Reference surfing is very nice

Without meaning to answer for terceiro, he is right in that there are at least 4 steps to getting the pdf and reference from JSTOR. 1) Search (say in Title, on an obscure word bringing up only 3 hits). This brings you to a screen with the SRU record. From here you can import the reference, but not t...

Re: JSTOR import problems

Thanks, Jon.

The "Use year-only for date" preference under Bib Citation Options in the Format Manager does interfere with the addition of "a", "b", etc.

Re: JSTOR import problems

What you see in the JSTOR record is what JSTOR provides. You can't import what isn't there. I have written to JSTOR to ask why this is not available via SRU. I wanted to confirm with you/the forum that I was not doing something wrong and that it actually is the case that JSTOR does not provide this...

JSTOR import problems

Hi, When importing a JSTOR reference from the SRU record, it seems that the journal volume and issue numbers are not imported. This may have something to do with the fact that they are not displayed as part of the SRU record (I think). Is there a simple way to get this to import properly? Another qu...

Replacing references in Hits List

I understand that when importing from an online search, the default is to replace references in the Hits List, and that these can be retained by pressing Option. Would it be possible to have a preference setting somewhere to control this action? My default is to not replace references and would like...

Would it be possible to do this with JSTOR articles too?

Universit of Leiden

Does anyone know the z39.50 details for Leiden? I would like to add this to the import filters.

One can no longer view the sliders of two databases simultaneously. It is the slider that tells you the total number of references (e.g., 126 of 1154).

I guess I am more interested in the slider control and the ability to easily go back 20 references or so (I realise that I can use Go to Reference #). I will get used to BE 10, but still miss the old slider.

Thanks Jon. The way you have done this is neat, but I would like to hear how others feels about its now limited utility. When merging databases from home and office, sometimes I only need to transfer the last few references. In doing so it is useful to see the relative reference number in both datab...

Please bring back the slider control of relative reference #

The only thing that I miss in BE 10 is the ability to scroll through references with the relative reference number and slider. Please bring this back. It was particularly useful when merging databases.

Thanks for the suggestions Ozean. I decided a number of years ago not to use a custom field (now specified) for original orthography in CJK names. Part of this is because of the (still) limited number of fields in BE. The idea is a good one, but only if you have unlimited fields. If I have two autho...

Thanks, Nicka.

Your suggestion might be the easiest way to override the setting.

Date Only citations in Mellel

Apologies for the cross-posting (Mellel forum). I seem to be experiencing trouble with the bibliography feature in Mellel (linked to Bookends). My trouble, I think, is what I perceive as a lack of control over how citations appear. I suspect many of the following are actually possible and would appr...
