Re: Bring the DOI to the main section

@jon — Note that you can configure the order of the fields shown in the Summary view... thanks I do have my DOI at the top and do appreciate the flexibility of how we can rearrange the Summary. I think my specific issue is hard to solve, and that is that some fields can be small or huge: I do want ...

Re: Bring the DOI to the main section

Jon has given a clear argument why he won't change it, but I nevertheless want to vocalise my wish that the DOI was on the main tab. It is the single most important piece of metadata for me, and I prefer having the main editor tab open as my main view+modifier, I just don't like having to constantly...

[Feature Request] Share sheet "Quick add..." for selected text

I'd love to be able to select some text on iOS, say a DOI, and then be able to use the share sheet to trigger "Quick add..." with Bookends. I use an applescript all the time on macOS, but current copy / change app / select quick add / paste which is slower and takes me a bit out of my searching work...

Re: Duplicate entries and missing refs when importing from watch folder

I also reliably get double references on PDF import from the watch folder (with a regularly rebuilt library). Jon and I went through this thoroughly and he could never reproduce, which is essential if he can fix it (Jon always fixes things quickly if he can identify the problem). This has to be spec...

Re: How to capitalize some letters when using Bibtex

Maybe someone has a cool built-in solution, but one alternative is a script which post-processes your BibTeX output. I use this to protect a bunch of terms which require specific case handling in my field. You can read more about that here: https://www.sonnysoftware.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=42...

Re: Bookends Tools, an Alfred workflow of 11 different functions

I also released a quick V1.3.7 which allows you to use ⌘⌥ on an item with an attachment and open the PDF directly in your PDF reader...

Re: Bookends Tools, an Alfred workflow of 11 different functions

Hi, I can reproduce this problem. See if this works better in V1.3.6 — I have tried to ensure the Alfred variable citeUsesRTF is used by the bebib script now. Make sure you set that to false and it should paste plain text rather than RTF.

Re: Live Search — OR option?

Thanks Jon. The workflow I am trying to set up involves creating search terms outside of Bookends, for example when I have to convert finalised and formatted references from a LibreOffice or Word document but I need to find them in Bookends — I want to be able to quickly view potential matches. For ...

Converting Author-date formatted citations in Word back to citekeys

I had a manuscript in Word which had finalised citations as plain text in author-date format (created by another bibliography system) and I wanted to get them back to temporary citations that could be scanned by Bookends. This ruby script takes selected text like this in Word: (Chichilnisky and Kalm...

Live Search — OR option?

Currently, as I understand it, the Live Search field performs AND / NOT searches. But it appears it doesn't support OR searches? This would be useful, and perhaps I have just missed how to do it, but if not could it be considered as a feature request for the future, barring any technical reasons? Id...

Re: [Feature Request] Drag Marooned Attachment onto Reference

As always, many thanks for your continued development and support. If there was an award for the mot sustained and continual development for a software product (probably in the history of software development considering when Bookends was first released), Bookends would win gold, silver and bronze 8)

[Feature Request] Drag Marooned Attachment onto Reference

This is a minor feature request: it would be nice if we could drag the item from the marooned attachments manager directly onto a Bookends item. Currently we have to click on Show in finder, then drag from there, so there is a two-step solution; however directly would be more streamlined... It would...

Re: [Feature Request] Helpful Features for BibTeX Users

File > Export References > Export With Last Settings
This would still be useful even with the new menu, it would basically use the previous settings including the format and file name etc. — because it is in the menu we can assign a shortcut to it so a BibTeX export could be a single keypress.
