Re: EndNote XML Import and absolute vs. relative paths
Thank you. Setting the "Attachment folder" to the root folder of the XML's folder hierarchy worked.

EndNote XML Import and absolute vs. relative paths
I have an XML file from EndNote listing the PDF attachments with their absolute paths. It appears that Bookends, upon importing, truncates these paths, and the "Attachments" pane shows an error message that the PDF attachment cannot be found. Is Bookends removing the path information? Is t...

Re: Smart Folder bug?
Thanks. I clearly misunderstood how it was supposed to work. This is actually very useful!

Smart Folder bug?
Perhaps a bug: Create a Smart Folder. It works as expected. Add a Smart Group (SQL) to it that shows a subset of the Smart Folder. The containing Smart Folder now only shows the restricted content of the contained item. Add a different subgroup of the containing Smart Folder as a Smart Group, the co...

Re: Attn Jon: Questions/Suggestions from someone hoping to convert to Bookends
Thank you for your response. I am now officially a registered customer. I know of the Valentina engine but have never used it (only used SQLite as embedded engine). I often download my subscribed journals, annotate them and save them in a batch. Hence the request for persistence option of fields, bu...

Attn Jon: Questions/Suggestions from someone hoping to convert to Bookends
Thanks for reading this Jon: I am a long-time EndNote user, and I have written custom programs to address its missing features features when I need PubMed. I have repeatedly considered switching to Bookends since I also use Mellel but have not been able to convert due to workflow inefficiencies. I w...

Re: [Feature request] Search Selected Text in Pubmed?
Thank you again for your response. Yes - I knew that was the browser view. I started with an unrecognized PDF, from where I went to the Autocomplete Paper dialog and imported the relevant citation. However, I ended up with the unexpected result that I showed in the image. In other words, I started w...

Re: [Feature request] Search Selected Text in Pubmed?
Thanks for the reply - yes you are correct, I was referring to PDFs. I did not grasp the "Autocomplete Paper ..." function's logic. It appears to create a new detached reference (shows two paperclips but no attachment - please see attachment). The Autocomplete Paper function's workflow mig...

Re: [Feature request] Search Selected Text in Pubmed?
Thank you whoever posted this - this is the reason I have not purchased Bookends yet. Please consider the following feature requests that I hope would benefit many: 1. Selected PDF text could be searched (via right-click) using PubMed. 2. Selected PDF text could be assigned (via right-click) to refe...
