Re: Write to PDF metadata?
There are a couple of scripts that do this within BE. You can search in this forum< or just google around. Personally, I use the following script, to write metadata. It relies on exiftools. tell application "Bookends" set theIDs to «event ToySRUID» "Selection" repeat with theID i...

Re: That built-in Export to Bookends script in DEVONthink!
@Myles: One serious advantage of DT over any other software is the ai; associations that it makes between your notes (files). If you are in the academics. I can tell you how DT helps me. If you have a collection of thousands of notes, the link or relation between noteX and noteY is always hard to fi...

Re: That built-in Export to Bookends script in DEVONthink!
Hi, folks, I'm sure most if not all of you who use DEVONthink and Bookends together are using DEVONthink's built-in export-to-Bookends script. Thank you for pointing that out. So far, for me the process always starts from Bookends. I collect, organize, rename the attachments within BE, and THEN ind...

Re: A new universal database (K10plus)
I understand that you cannot read it. I am not complaining about BE either. I totally understood how he edited the fields: and very helpful guide. What I am saying is the original source has faults because it is putting two fields into one tag (field.). I will try to send an email to their contact s...

Re: A new universal database (K10plus)
As look closely, the original tags are mostly wrong, unfortunately. The Title field is fused with the Author field; and the Subtitle has taken the place of the Title. That seems to be the case across all the Amharic entries. GBV_amh.jpg - 880b is subtitle - 880c is author But, 880a is author in the ...

Re: A new universal database (K10plus)
Thank you dear Philologist. You did an amazing favor to me. I won't be able to figure it out.
This is great.
@Jon; sorry: I should have written those words in Geez script.
ፍቅር the original word I searched. But, the issue is resolved now.

Re: A new universal database (K10plus)
Dear Philologist; thank you for bringing this powerful resource to our attention. This is very interesting system. I am relieved to find a new working search engine after my failure to deal with Worldcat. Having said that, I have a little observation I want you know (in case you are somehow involved...

Re: GBV (GVK) as a bibliographic online source
Thank you for letting us know. This is extremely useful information. Long time ago, I used to get the best quality book reference from Library of Stanford. The quality of the reference from google Books is not that reliable. World Cat used to be the next great source. Since WorldCat's new interface,...

It is very sad that such a rich source is locked away from us.

Re: Generating an author index
That is interesting. I never knew you can do that with those tools.Philologist wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 8:48 am In Mellel this is time consuming. In Nisus Writer this is much easier because the citations are just text which can be manipulated by macros.

Re: Generating an author index
I would say the poster in the DevonEVONt forum doesn't fully understand your problem. He is talking about the list of authors. Yes, you can list out the cited authors using different methods. But, keeping them linked to the page where they appear is a different problem. I think having an author inde...

Re: Creating Bookends References from Word reference list
Parse the plain list using https://anystyle.io:
and import the structured reference to Bookends.
That is what I do when I have a list of unformatted references anyways.

Thank you for reminding us about the meeting.
And, very pleased to hear that Jon is a fellow academic. I never knew. But, I should have suspected it from the temperaments to get into details; and from the patience for dabblers.

A better method to connect Bookends and Devonthink
I have been using Zach's script posted here https://www.sonnysoftware.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=4823 to jump back and forth between BE and DT. Zach's script very useful one; have been using it for a long time. But, it requires a lot of work to write the links on user20 and the url field in Dt. ryan...
