I should note, too, that when I attempted this with the document in Word 14.5.5, which I just discovered I still have installed for some reason, it goes off without a hitch. So there must be something going on with the newer version of Word and the script.

Bookends can't scan Pages files, you have to use Biblio -> Scan Open Pages Document. Right - that's what I'm attempting. But I have the impression that most Scrivener users save as RTF and then scan that with Bookends (or scan from within Word). You say Word crashes? Or is it Bookends? Just Word cr...
