Re: Corruption of OCR'd PDFs

Yes please. It would be great if we had the option of PDF Viewer. I've been opening Bookends attachments in it through AppleScript but that doesn't work very well. As for issues in Big Sur, it's a bit early to say. I've had issues, but they're random, and normally involve Preview and OCRed pdfs. If ...

Re: Corruption of OCR'd PDFs

I've heard good things about Catalina regarding the pdf system. But many have recounted problems returning in Big Sur. See for example: https://annoying.technology/posts/86f4ea27e4cd90d0/ On a related note, there is a new pdf viewer for Mac called... PDF Viewer (https://pdfviewer.io). It's free, doe...

Re: Is there any interest in syncing Bookends for iOS with Zotero?

Removed from the *group* or removed from the "database"? Removed from the group. The idea is to have a 'reading list' group or groups, syncing their attachments to the iPad. Once annotation / reading is finished, I remove them from the group (not the database). Ideally, they would then stop syncing...

Re: Is there any interest in syncing Bookends for iOS with Zotero?

Hi Jon, I was referring to the storage taken by attachments on the iPad when syncing specific groups. It has been discussed on this thread: https://sonnysoftware.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3333&p=14873&hilit=delete+attachments+ipad#p14873 Perhaps it's different now (?), but it used to be that at...

Re: Is there any interest in syncing Bookends for iOS with Zotero?

Personally I have no interest in syncing Bookends iOS with Zotero. Bookends for Mac syncing with Zotero would be more interesting though. Which brings me to my next point. At the moment I would hope efforts be directed at improving the Mac - iOS syncing mechanism, before any thoughts into Zotero tak...

Re: File renaming issue

Sorry for the delay, I managed to reproduce the issue. It's a bit more delicate. File renaming works as expected (like you said) when you add file(s) to a reference. However, when the reference already has a file attached, and you ask Bookends to rename the attachment (right click, 'Rename Attachmen...

Re: File renaming issue

On a related note.
The file renaming issue, where in the event of the user choosing the option to replace spaces with underscores, Bookends adds a space before the unique identifier at the end, has returned.
This had been fixed in the last update but is back with the silent update.

Joao.

Re: Remove a reference from a group without deleting reference?

Getting this issue too. Whether using the delete key or the menu option. Only started with this new version.
Edit: Should have read the thread more fully. Restarting Bookends solves the problem.

Re: Bibtex export, problem with LaTex control chars

Don't need to use applescript, its just more efficient to update an existing bibtex library that way. I did not know about the Biblio menu export (was going via the file menu). That is a bit faster but still slow. The problem with doing it via the application (whether through the Biblio or File menu...

Re: Bibtex export, problem with LaTex control chars

Those characters will be escaped if you tell Bookends to generate the bibliography as BibTeX Markup. Hi Jon. Is there a way we can tell Bookends to do this (escape the characters) via applescript? I can see in the user guide that we can choose "rrtf" or "text" class when exporting, but no mention o...

Re: Odd changes of focus when editing fields

I can confirm That i’m getting this issue too. It seems a bit random when bookends is the frontmost app. However, if i’m editing a field (say author), cmd-tab to some other app (i.e. preview to check a pdf), and cmd-tab back to bookends, the focus is no longer on the field that i’m editing but on th...

Good to know. I'm on High Sierra and haven't had any issues since I updated to it.
