I have been entering dates in the format yyyy-mm-dd in the date field, but would like to copy the Month and Day to u3 for selected reference types. Thank you for these very helpful replies. I now have multiple ways of solving the problem. The easiest is unchecking the "Retain Hidden Citations" option in BE which solves the problem instantly.
