Re: Formatting Text in Fields
Thank you for your quick reply. I have tried several fonts. It didn't work. Then I changed the settings of my Mac from Dark Mode to Light Mode. Now the italics remain, both in the reference edit pane and in the formatted reference. So, for now, I will stick with the Light Mode of my Mac mini until t...

Formatting Text in Fields
I am not sure whether there is any topic on this: after the last update (April 2020), the formatting of a part of the title (and other fields apparently) using italic or bold face disappears. I apply the italics or bold, but after I click on another reference, and come back to the formatted one, the...

Re: The Bookends Guide to the SBL format
Dear all, I have updated the previous SBLHS2 format for Bookends. Below you will find the changes. You can either replace the old format file with the attached one, or you can copy the code directly into the respective styles: Added a new reference type (chapter within titled volume in multivolume w...

Re: The Bookends Guide to the SBL format
Dear all, Attached is a working format for the SBL Handbook of Style , 2nd ed. (hereafter SBLHS2). Any improvements are most welcomed. This covers the following sections from SBLHS2: 6.2.1–6.2.25 (excepting 6.2.5; 6.2.14; 6.2.22; 6.2.23) and sections 6.3.1–6.3.10 (except 6.3.7). You just need to cop...

Re: The Bookends Guide to the SBL format
Ok. I re-read the mentioned sections. Nevertheless, I cannot find what I want. The issue is this: I have a reference type called BOOK . I format the citation option like this: a, t ~, ed. ~e | ~, trans. ~u3* ~, ~u2~ ed.~ ~, ~u13~ vols.~|~ ~ |~, ~j v` (`{u11;$ repr., $} |~; ~, l: u, d`)` This results...

Re: The Bookends Guide to the SBL format
Thank you. So, I’ll have to wait for a fix. Now, a more punctual question: In a reference, in the Edition field for a book, I have the word “rev.”. Now, in the footnote, “rev.” is fine. But in the bibliography list, I need to have “Rev.” (capital “R”). Can this be done?

Re: The Bookends Guide to the SBL format
Thank you. I did that, but some custom reference types (e.g. “Unused”, etc.) were not saved with the same name (e.g. “Volume in Multivolume”). On a new computer, they have to be again renamed. Is there any way to avoid that?

Re: The Bookends Guide to the SBL format
The easiest way is to double click the file and let Bookends install it for you. You can do this manually if you prefer, moving the format to ~/Library/Application Support/Bookends/Custom Formats Jon Sonny Software Hi, How can I export a format (in my case the SBLHS2) so that others can double clic...

Re: The Bookends Guide to the SBL format
Hi, I am preparing an SBLHS2 format for Bookends. While I managed to arrange the format for books, journals etc., I am stuck with the formatting for the lexica both one word or more words citation. For one word, SBLHS2 has: LEH, s.v. “ἐνθύημα.” For two or more words, LEH, s.vv. “ἐνθύημα,” “λεαίνω.” ...

Re: Conditional formatting for two editors "and" without <comma>
That's set in the format, Names Punctuation tab. Where you tell Bookends what to put between the penultimate and last editor, you enter and ^, and Bookends will use what comes before the ^ for two editors and what comes after the ^ if there are more than two editors. Jon Sonny Software Hi, Jon, I n...

Re: The Bookends Guide to the SBL format
Any SBL 2nd edition style with no issues whatsoever? I installed the format, changed the quotation marks (from «» to ""), but I am facing another issue: no comma and space before the page number, when it comes to Book and Edited Book types of format: Stanley J. Grenz and John R. Franke, Be...
