OK. I did that. But now special characters are showing up as black diamonds with white question marks. FWIW, I have "Import Text Encoding" set to UTF-8 as well (though I tried all four settings, and all had the same black diamonds appear).

When I attempt a search using the Library of Congress gateway, and the result includes foreign characters, they do not translate properly. For example, the title, "The last conquistador : Juan de Oñate and the settling of the far Southwest" appears as "The last conquistador : Juan de ...
