Re: Setting up a shared database
Thanks, Jon. I didn't understand what the Default Attachment Subfolder meant. This clears it up. Alan You can share live databases with other Bookends users via cloud sync. Of course that requires that they use a Mac or iOS device. That's covered in detail in the User Guide, but this video tutorial ...

Setting up a shared database
I am a member of a group that wants to set up a bibliography for a project. It would be nice if the bibliography could be accessed live (not exported and downloaded) and offer access to the linked attachments to all members of the group. I currently have a Bookends database with > 10,000 references,...

Bulk reattachment of "lost" orphaned attachments
I don't know what happened, but my database had well over 600 "orphaned" attachments (ie, references that think that they have an attachment, but for which the link to the attachment has been severed). Part of this seems to have been due to a bug in Bookends (now fixed), but I suspect most...

Re: Google Scholar working for others?
So, this is what I think is happening. Google Scholar has flagged my IP for possible abuse. Why, I'm not sure. It wants to show me a Captcha to prove I'm human, after which it will whitelist that browser through a cookie. I can't get GS to show the Captcha in Firefox, so I can't get that browser whi...

Re: Google Scholar working for others?
Any thoughts about what might be wrong on my side? (I've had this bug for 48 hours or so).

Google Scholar working for others?
Are others having problems with Google Scholar? When I type in a title, I get 10,800,000 matches and a Captcha that I can't complete w/in the Bookends window. I suspect that something has changed at Google Scholar.

Different et al. limits for authors and editors?
I am hoping that I can make the maximum number of authors before an "et al." is used different from the maximum number of editors. There is a cryptic box in the formats manager Screen Shot 2019-11-01 at 13.13.17.png that I can't figure out. It seems like it should allow a different number ...

Go from attachment to Bookends entry?
I don't know if others agree with me, but wouldn't it be great if there was a way to go from an attachment (like a pdf) to the Bookends entry for that paper? Right now, the only way I can do it easily is copy the file name, paste it into the bookends search (All Fields), and then backspace to get ri...

Hmm. I have no idea what is broken at my end. If I figure it out, I'll report it here in case it helps others. Thx.

Has Quick Add via JSTOR stopped working?
I have tried to add two references this way, and both have come in blank. I suspect something changed at JSTOR.
My last attempt was this link: https://www.jstor.org/stable/41226135

Request: Clear Hits without losing focus
Jon recently said I suggest that you mark any references in the group you want to delete (make them hits) and then switch to the Hits group. Now you can delete them from the library with the Delete key or trash icon. This (and many other operations) would be easier if there was a way to clear the hi...
