Re: LaTeX Citations using natbib

Hello Jon, I tested the functionality to recognize citations such as \citep[see][chap.~2]{jon90} when scanning, but I am finding several issues. Bookends is not recognizing all citations (even some that were recognized before the latest Bookends upgrade using regular \citep or \citet commands) and i...

Scanning LaTeX Document

Hello! When working with LaTeX, it is common to split a document into separate files, thus having a root files and several input files. I'm thinking there could be two ways to work this in Bookends: (1) to initiate the scan with the root file and for Bookends to automatically scan an input file when...

Re: LaTeX Citations using natbib

I don’t believe Bookends is doing anything with whatever appears after “\cite” and before “{keys}” when scanning a document (without generating a bibliography), as is the case when using the recommended steps to use Bookends with BibTeX and LaTeX. It is BibTeX who takes care of interpreting those co...

Re: LaTeX Citations using natbib

Since I’m using BibTeX, when I do the scan in Bookends I do not generate a bibliography. However, Bookends finds all citations in the LaTeX document and selects all of them in Hits. I then generate a Bibliography in Bookends using BibTeX format. I think these are the recommended steps in the user gu...

Re: LaTeX Citations using natbib

Jon, thank you. Couldn’t the scan (when BIBTEX is enabled) recognize the \cite command and then ignore everything after it until it finds the opening bracket { ? This way, the various \cite commands (e.g, \citep, \citet, \citealp, \citealt) with or without options in [] and with or without *, get re...

LaTeX Citations using natbib

Hello, I noticed that when using the natbib citation command with options (for example: \citep[see][chap.~2]{jon90}), Bookends does not recognize the citation key "jon90". It works properly when using no option (for example: \citep{jon90}). I hope there is a quick fix!! (besides having to ...

Using MS Word 2016 in Windows OS

Hello. I recently had some issues with two different manuscripts using the Mac version of Word, and have been using the Windows version since then (through Parallels). Unfortunately, the Windows version of Word still seems much more powerful and robust than the Mac counterpart. Even though Bookends ...

Re: Exporting References to NVivo

Unfortunately, not much progress. I left this on standby but expect to revisit in a couple of months. My free trial with NVIVO ended so I haven't done more testing, but I'll probably get a license soon. I was able to import references to NVIVO but if I remember correctly, only titles were being impo...

Re: Exporting References to NVivo

Jon, thank you. The best I got was an XML example from the NVivo team that is readable by their software using the Import from EndNote functionality. It seems to be similar to the one generated by Bookends, except for the first items in each reference. Could you please take a look and see if you fin...

Exporting References to NVivo

I’m trying to export some references and then import them in NVivo (a qualitative data analysis software). NVivo has the functionality of importing references from Endnote (in .xml format), and Mendeley / Zotero (in .ris format). I tried exporting my references from Bookends using XML (Endnote) form...
