Re: PDF annotation changes -- comments
In the latest version (14.0.6), when I highlight text in an attached PDF file, the pop-up appears very briefly and then text is deselected - I normally highlight text in order to copy it to paste somewhere else, but the pop-up is there too briefly to do anything useful, and then text is deselected....

Re: PDF annotation changes -- comments
I just wanted to state, though late, that the changes made really make my workflow much more efficient. As a former Sente user —this was one of its strongest points— and a humanities scholar, close reading is essential for my work. I resorted to using MacOs Preview in the meantime, but it is a bit c...

Detach PDF issue
I was cleaning up my library attachments these days and I ran into a strange situation. Whenever I select a reference, go to inspector and detach or delete the PDF, I get a message saying: Can't find file "3.66972E+09". I'm guessing it's some sort of file identifier. Even if I reattach a f...

Re: Corruption of OCR'd PDFs
Hi, I was able to pin down the sequence that is corrupting my PDF files. I think it can be of use for others to know what to avoid: 1. Select pdf text using the mouse. Note that the highlighting option is off. 2. Press Ctrl+Cmd+Q 3. In order to be able to carry on reading, you have to click on the h...

Re: Corruption of OCR'd PDFs
Hi, I'm getting a similar problem as described above. It has happened a few times. Though I am still unsure how to reproduce it, I can say that it does happen within Bookends. I have just had the issue again, while reading a PDF in Bookends and using the "Make quoted PDF highlight from selectio...

Re: PDF reading workflow
Hi Dellu, Just ran into this post, after looking into new workflows for PDF Annotations. I was, actually, just re-reading your Skim vs. Highlights vs. PDF Expert post. Since I started with Bookends (coming from Sente), I worked with Preview. It's buggy, but it seemed pretty easy to highlight and the...

Re: Recommendations about using notes (particularly with Scrivener)
1. Is there an easy way to export notes that are stored in the notes field rather than as pdf annotations? 2. If my primary concern is working between Bookends and Scrivener, should I continue to take notes in the notes field rather than as pdf annotations? 3. If I did instead make notes as pdf ann...

Re: Annotations: link a notecard to a highlight
Perhaps a feature request to add would be to be able to export the virtual notecards with a certain indication of its color. Is this possible in any way?

Re: Annotations: link a notecard to a highlight
A little followup to this thread: when I copy the notecards to Scrivener (I use the right-click and then the Copy Notecard and Citation feature), the comments in the notecards get unlinked from their virtual notecards of the original highlight. Since the default order of the notes is notecards first...

Re: Recommendations about using notes (particularly with Scrivener)
I would also like to see someone share their workflow with notecards and PDF annotations. I'm also a former Sente user and, since Sente integrated annotations and notecards in the same sort of workflow, I'm having some issues with exporting. Just heard about the tags through this post (and then chec...

Re: Annotations: link a notecard to a highlight
Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. I meant "virtual notecards" as mentioned on p. 114-115 of the User Guide.
The double-clicking was the solution I was looking for. Too obvious, I guess . Thanks a lot!

Annotations: link a notecard to a highlight
Hi, I'm wondering if there is a way to produce a virtual note linked to a highlight in Bookends. Surprisingly, I can do it in Preview and Bookends recognizes the link by displaying a red rectangle around the hightlighted section. But I can't seem to be able to do it directly in Bookends. This would ...
