Re: Missing PDFs
seems the attachment folder needed to be changed in preferences. Once I did that, I now see all attachments. Thanks.

Re: New MacBook Pro and Scanning command missing
Thanks. Oddly, when I restarted Word again, it was there. Seems fine now.

Missing PDFs
I just installed Bookends on a new MacBook pro. I sync my one and only library over iCloud, which worked without problem between my iMac and my old MBP. Now I see the library items but when I go to view the attachment, I get a white background with "can't find file (with the name of the PDF inc...

New MacBook Pro and Scanning command missing
Picked up a new MBP today and installed all software again. After installing Bookends, and MS Word, I noticed that the scan command in Word is not there. How do I scan my documents now? How do I get it to show again? I'm running Office for Mac 16.31.

Unscanning in Word for Mac
Question: I scanned a Word doc (APA format) and all is fine. What does unscanning do?? I thought it would do what the name implies ie unscans the document by re-placing in the temp citations. I have hit the un-scan function several times, and absolutely nothing happens. I even saved the document as ...

Re: latest update
Ok, so I went to the help menu within Bookends. Seems my library is already in the Library/application support/Bookends folder. I assume this is where I would have moved it if it were elsewhere? And, am I correct in my understanding that it can stay here if I update? Also the iCloud sync is only the...

Re: latest update
I am sorry, could you be more precise..when you say if you use "this" what is "this"? I just went into preferences on Bookends and my attachments are in icloud folder for iOS sync. This is the only place I have ever set up. Are you saying I have to move the library elsewhere? If ...

latest update
Hi, I sync my Bookends library across Macs and iOS devices. Can someone explain what this means in the new update: Cloud sync will be halted and the user notified if Bookends detects that the library file is in a file sync folder (e.g. Dropbox, iCloud Drive, or Google Drive) Combining Bookends cloud...

Re: "No references were imported" message in online search
I read the posts first before posting my question since they provided no information beyond what I already experienced. They provide no info on how to fix the problem....not sure why this is a feature if there is a cap of some sort that triggers Google to lock us out.

Re: "No references were imported" message in online search
I am importing references from online searches from within Bookends. When I go to import a reference using Google Scholar, I am finding the reference is not actually there. It was working fine however a few minutes before. Is there a limit to how many Bookends allows me to import into the Hit List??

Smart Groups and Folders
I am working on my dissertation and the concept of groups and subgroups/folders can be helpful. I am sure this is possible but the answer does not seem intuitive so I am hoping that I can get some help. I would like to create either a smart group or folder wherein I can specify that the group or fol...

Importing Smart Groups
I feel like I am losing my mind. I see from the user guide that syncing smart groups is not supported between Mac and iOS however I can evidently import and or create a smart group at which point they will then sync. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to import an already existing smart grou...

Re: Papers to Bookends export script
By library I meant PDFs… I submit the instructions I followed and for which you also directed me (one and the same) appear to be unclear. You note via Apple script or export/import. What’s missing is for those of us who are unfamiliar with Apple scripts ie how to use them. I’m thinking I missed a st...
