Create bibliography
This is a pretty simple shortcut, but quite useful I think. It exports all the references in one group and combines them into a file. As you can see, I’ve written that file to a github repo using Working Copy, but you could obviously do whatever you want with it. I’ll be using this to keep my biblio...

Feature request: keyboard shortcuts
i would love to see some keyboard shortcuts in Bookends for ipad. Nothing too crazy, but basic things like search, ability to navigate references using the arrow keys, copy formatted (or temp) citation, etc, would all be a nice addition.

Shortcuts examples
Now that we have Shortcuts support I thought it would be worth creating a space where people could share their shortcuts and workflows. I haven’t quite figured out how to integrate the current shortcuts into my workflow, so I’m looking forward to see what others have come up with!

Feature request: Sidebars in ios 14
I think sidebars are nice and would make navigating the app (and one’s various folders/groups) a lot easier—essentially it might look a little closer to the mac. With iPadOS as a whole moving to sidebars, any chance we see them in the next iteration of the Bookends app?

Re: Bets way to enter subtitles in references?
I really don’t know much about CSL, but maybe this will help. Bibtex has the option to have a title and a subtitle field separately, so it looks like this: Title = {some title here} Subtitle = {subtitle here} When I then process the paper through pandoc, the first time the reference occurs it shows ...

Re: Bets way to enter subtitles in references?
Sorry let me clarify: I just want to be able to export a reference with a separate title and subtitle (something CSL definitely has). When creating the reference, there is a clear place to put the title, but where can I put the subtitle? I want them to be separate so that eventually when I am format...

Bets way to enter subtitles in references?
In the reference data, I’d like to be able to include both a title and a subtitle separately, then when it gets exported to bibtex and formatted properly the full “title: subtitle” will come up the first time the reference is cited, but in subsequent references it will only use “title.” Is there an ...

Re: Export feature requests
Just a +1 for this, and also a nod to what Serge says, I think this would be a perfect example of what Siri Shortcuts could enable (in addition to the other things I’ve mentioned in previous posts.)

Re: Search from main page
I’d actually like to add another request to this: also the ability to copy the citation info from the pdf viewer screen. This would enable viewing/reading the pdf then easily copying the citation info without having to go back to the main reference view screen. Again, small fries, maybe, but it’s th...

Re: Shortcuts support
Here are the two things which I think would be most useful, in order of importance (there are plenty more, but this would go a long way): 1. Export reference details: including annotations, bookends link, temp citation/full citation, and export citation—i.e. like BibTeX, or whichever format is selec...

Shortcuts support
I briefly mentioned this in another conversation, but thought it deserved its own thread: What are the chances that we can see full-fledged Shortcuts support from Bookends for iOS? This could enable deep automation that would truly make Bookends a power app on iOS, and allow it to communicate with a...

Re: Cross linking support for Devonthink
For example, do long tap on an item row in DEVONthink and choose Copy Item Link. Insert it into a note field of the reference in Bookends for iOS. The next time you will want to open that item in DEVONthink from Bookends just open a note and tap (long tap) on a link. DEVONthink will be launched nav...

Cross linking support for Devonthink
Devonthink just updated their app so this should now be available—I’m just not really sure how it works or what it is. Does anyone have a sense for what this enables or how to link the two apps?

Re: Autolinking Bookends and DEVONthink records
That did it! Thanks so much.
Trying to figure out the ideal writing/referencing workflow, so if you get a moment would love to hear how you swing it. Also trying to make this work on iOS, which is what I primarily work on. Thanks again.
