Odd behavior with circumflex accent and subsequent citation
Hi Jon, I am getting an odd behaviour. For most of my citations I use the circumflex ^ within my citations, for the name to appear outside brackets, as in "{^Burnyeat, 1990, #85036@142} argues that..." etc. But this journal (the same one from the previous thread) doesn't like parentheses a...

Re: Font size for what you see on the screen
Thanks again Jon. I hadn't clued in to the fact that there was a drop-down menu there. As always, thank for being so attentive to questions like this.

Re: Subsequent Citations question
Great idea. That should do the trick.

Re: Subsequent Citations question
Hi Jon, I thought of another way to do it. I can duplicate the styles and make a version that includes the short title in the first citation and a version that does not. And then just classify my references appropriately. But in order to do this easily, it would help to be able to tell which referen...

Re: Subsequent Citations question
Thanks Jon. I think I'll see if the editor is flexible enough to tolerate the short title in all cases.

Subsequent Citations question
I am submitting to a journal whose style guide asks for the following: " where you are abbreviating the title in subsequent citations , give the abbreviation in square brackets, thus: T. Brickhouse and N. Smith, Socrates on Trial [Trial] (Princeton, 1981), 91–4." So I know how to set this ...

Font size for what you see on the screen
I'm getting old and my eyes are not as good as they used to be. So I would like to know how to increase the font size for...pretty much everything and anything I see on the screen when I have bookends open: The list of groups on the left, the text in the list of references in the main panel, the tex...

Re: Highlight References the text turns white
Hi Jon, Thanks for your quick reply (as always). I have a terrible memory, but I could swear that until a few day ago all the references were in black font, regardless of the background colour? Am I just imagining that? And why did all the colours change when I installed Bookends on a second compute...

Highlight References the text turns white
I set up Bookends on a new Mac yesterday, and now both on the new machine and my old the font for references that have a colour label has turned white (which for me is most of them). I don't know how to make it black again. Any thoughts?

Re: Bookends Devonthink Highlights app workflow
Hi DrJJWMac, I just prefer to do my annotations in a dedicated PDF viewer. I like the interface better, so it's a personal preference. I really like how Highlights shows the full text both of highlight annotations and anchored notes along the side. And on the ipad, it's a sort of 'split-screen' view...

Re: Autolinking Bookends and DEVONthink records
Ok -- So I was able somehow to make an Applescript that does what I want. I've posted the entire workflow into a new thread here in case it's of any use to anyone:

Bookends Devonthink Highlights app workflow
[Post is updated with a newer/better applescript, supplied by Bluefrog from the Devonthink forum, modified a bit by me -- 12 April 2022] I thought I would share my workflow with Bookends, Devonthink, and the Highlights app. The aim is to use Devonthink as a sort of ‘hub’ to store my notes on journal...

Re: Autolinking Bookends and DEVONthink records
Ok -- I will see if they can answer the question. In the meantime, really all I want is the name of the attachment in the Notes field, because that would trigger Devonthink to make an automatic link from the attachment name to the attachment record. (And also put the name of the attachment followed ...

Re: Autolinking Bookends and DEVONthink records
It seems this is also the place to ask the following: I understand that the Import References from Bookends function in Devonthink uses the Summary view in Bookends. I've been playing around with the Summary view, including the PDF name and User 20 field. But when I do the Import References, the new...
