Re: Chapter Abbreviations (etc.)

Thanks for the response! It took me a while to respond because I wanted to do some more experimenting. I have to admit that I'm not sure what you mean by citing "by content" - I am already using "Author, Date, Unique ID," just introducing additional characters into the page cited section. How would ...

Chapter Abbreviations (etc.)

Hi, Quite a few of the references I cite come from premodern publications that are divided up into complex subsections of books, parts, and chapters. However, I'm struggling to come up with a way to cite these subsections without creating an unmatched citation. At the moment, this is the problem cit...

Commas at end of citation

Hi, I'm sure that this is an easy fix, but I'm encountering the following problem. Several of my citation formats feature fields in the final position that are occasionally absent. This results in the citation ending with a comma rather than a period. For example, in the following citation format, f...

Multivolume Subsequent Citation (Chicago)

Hi everyone, This might be an easy question, but I'm having trouble coming up with the best format multivolume works for subsequent citations. I'm using Chicago, so I'd like my output to be something like this: Brown, Book Title , I:36. Ideally, I'd like for this format to work even when the volume ...

Citing Letters According to the Chicago Manual of Style

Hi all, I'm trying to cite letters according to the Chicago Manual of Style, and I'm having a bit of trouble with the first/last name orders. Here are a couple of examples (taken from the CMOS17 page) that illustrate the problem. Footnote: Adams to Charles Milnes Gaskell, Baden, September 22, 1867, ...

Barcode Scanning Library Books

Hi,

I just started using the barcode scanning function on bookends for iOS. It works really well for my personal books, but I haven't gotten it to work for library books. Is there anything I can do here? I apologize if there's a quick fix that I'm simply not seeing.

Thanks in advance!

Autocomplete Paper and Book Reviews (Newbie)

Hi, I'm using autocomplete from paper to fill in the reference fields for a number of book reviews. This is working fine, except for one hitch: the "Title" is generally filled in as a blank, since Book Reviews generally do not have a title. Instead, the relevant information is listed under "Book(s) ...

Merging Zotero and Devonthink in Bookends

I'm a new user of Bookends and I'm seeking guidance on merging my zotero library of references into bookends, along with my pdf library from Devonthink. I'm planning to import my reference library from zotero and my pdf library from bookends. What I'm concerned about is matching the new references t...
