Can’t batch add colored tags to PDFs
I have used Keywords to mark references inside of Bookends. With these, I can apply filters and see (or mark) just those that have a certain Keyword, or any other property. This lets me create groups inside Bookends. But I’d also like to create groups in the Finder and DevonThink. To do this, I gues...

Re: How to make batch changes?
OK! I found out that “Journal" is just a wrapper for "Ser Title." I think I’m good now.

Re: How to make batch changes?
OK. I found out that Global Change > Change Field can do what I want.
I stupidly assumed that “Global Change” meant GLOBAL, but I see that it can mean “selections only."
But the Journal field is still missing from all pop-ups, application-wide.

How to make batch changes?
Hello! How does one select a bunch of references and then make batch changes? Last night, I wanted to set all the YEAR property for a bunch of refs to the same year, but could not do so easily. I tried to Find-and-Replace, but it looks like it will not accept a wildcard, so I had to enter each known...

Yes, in the references list. Thanks, Jon. That solved it.

How to sort by date (month, day) and not just year?
I figured the format "2023-06” would work but it does not.
Neither does “Aug 2023.”
Any way to sort using chars outside the four YYYY ones?

Online Search > Google Books not working
For the last hour or so, Online Search > Search Google Books has not been working.
But Google Books itself is still online and working. Did Google Books just change their API?
I’m using Bookends 14.2.4 on macOS 12.6.5.

Proper way to input and export “Introduction by …”

Importing already-formatted (e.g., APA) citations
Hello! Some websites, such as Academia.edu, list papers that do not appear elsewhere on the Internet—they do not appear on (say) a journal’s website, or on Google Scholar, where you can download (or copy to clipboad) citation data in one of the standard formats. They only let you copy already-format...

Attach one PDF to multiple references?
Surely this has been asked already. I tried searching but never found it. I have one PDF that is book of chapters—and has three references pointing at it (book, chapter m, and chapter n). But Bookends only attaches it to the last reference I attached it to. Do I really have to make two duplicates of...

Bookends notecard vs PDF note
Could someone please explain the advantage and disadvantages of each? People have already mentioned that "PDF notes can contain multiple paragraphs while Bookends notecards cannot." I have solved that problem by using <p> instead of newline to make multi-paragraph Bookends notecards. Thank...

Bookends Notecards have white (invisible) text in dark mode
I'm sure this has already been noted somewhere. It's not just the cursor, but all text is white. Using the Colors panel fixes this for a few seconds. Close and reopen and the white (invisible) text is back.

Re: Can we offset the automatic page numbering?
Thank you. I was wondering if we can override this action. I have a PDF whose first page is 561. Bookends mistakenly makes notecards for the first page at 1112, second page at 1113. So there's no way for me to override this by adding an offset (by means unknown) of (in this case) –551?
