What is the best strategy to split an existing library into two while maintaining all PDF documents in place?

Occasionally, when importing from the watch folder, the PDF is attached to a wrong reference. What is the best strategy for correcting these errors? Right now, I locate the PDF in the finder, then detach in BE and drop it from the finder to the new reference in BE. Or is there a better way to do that?

everything works perfect - the watch folder is imported and all references are in the database. I am only missing an automatic refresh, as I have to close and reopen the database all times, as the covid literature is piling up ....
