Re: The end ... of EndNote

But Jon has been simply amazing at incorporating my requests - the sensible ones, at least - into the software as the regular updates move along Ditto on this! Jon has been amazing at hearing my/our concerns and addressing them. And with the speed at which he has responded! I've pared down my progr...

Oh, my, my. That is wonderful. And your response was so fast!

My bad for not reading the Read Me!! I just wasn't expecting this so quickly.

Jon, you continue to amaze me. Really! Many, many thanks.

Jon, MANY thanks for implementing sorting by author, title, with three-em dashes! Seems to work really well. This is so very helpful!! I know you said that it would be a while before the program would ignore the leading 'the, a, an,' but I just wanted to 'remind' you that this would be very nice at ...

Hi Alexandria, Please see my reply to your other post. Yes, a choice of fields to sort by could be added to the format definition. Not for 8.1, though... Jon Sonny Software Yes, I can definitely understand this, given that you've only just released 8.1! The project that I really need this all worki...

The subsort is by date. But remember it is by the date entered in the reference, so if the date includes month it won't necessarily correspond to the correct year (e.g. July 4, 2005 will sort by "J", not "2005"). If this isn't the problem, please contact me directly with an exam...

Re: sorting in list view question

In Bookends 8.1 the list will be sorted by author/date when first opened (in earlier versions it was just author). If you click on a particular header to sort after that, it will sort on just that field. FYI, you can of course type in the first few letters of the authors name in the Live Search box...

sorting in list view question

Is it possible in List view to sort by more than one category? I have many multiple listings for the same author and I'd like to be able to have it list alphabetically according to title. (Kind of the same problem I am having with the three-em-dash issue as well, come to think of it.) Thanks, Alexan...

using three em dashes question

Hi. The three-em-dash feature is great. I have only one question. How do I get the multiple works by a single author listings to present in alphabetical order by title? When citing multiple works by an author (and using the dash), the standard I've always used is that the title would become the sort...

Re: organizing notes: an update

I'd love it if this thread were to grow a bit more. I often feel that a bigger problem than learning a program is deciding which programs to use and how to link them together into an efficient workflow, and I would like to hear what other people do. Yes, I agree! I'm part of several forums and this...

three-em-dash?

Hi Jon,

I was wondering if the three-em-dash feature for repeated names in bibliographies we discussed earlier had been included in this update. I didn't see anything about it on the list.

Some other nice fixes, though!

Re: Bookends +

Does Bookends basically let you access the bibliographical info and abstracts, but not the content itself As far as I know, you can do two things--you can use the Notes field for more extended comments or you can attach a document to a reference. I haven't used these features myself. Mostly I use i...

I use several programs primarily for organizing notes, quotes, and idea, and also research material, reading notes, etc. I use DEVONthink as my 'mass storage' program, which houses everything I want to hold and then find later for future possible projects. I also use it to store clip art and other t...

The question here is not how to display authors in a formatted reference, but how to display them in the List View window.
Oops. Sorry. Never mind...
