Re: Watch Folder Function & Potential Issue
Did you drag them out and drop them in again (preferably not all at once)? Jon Sonny Software Jon, this worked for me as well to move items out and then back and then they were imported. But, that is not how it used to work. Previously imported the first time the item was added to the folder. I hav...

How to move Bookends to new Mac?
I am doing a clean install and will manually install applications and move files as needed from a backup drive to restore. Is there a "how to" on what files to move from the backup drive so that I retain all my articles, attachments, annotations, and collections?

Re: Bookends keeps attaching new PDF to existing reference
The solution isn't to add more complexity but to figure out the problem. 1. If you add the same PDF repeatedly, is it consistently attached to the wrong reference. 2. If you avoid the watch folder and use the normal mechanism for adding PDFs (drag and drop) does the same problem happen. BTW, you re...

Re: Bookends keeps attaching new PDF to existing reference
Please contact tech support at support@sonnysoftware.com And send ONE example PDF and the attach dialog you see when you drop it on a library window. Jon Sonny Software Jon, I have noticed that Bookends continues to occasionally attach a pdf to an existing reference that is totally unrelated when t...

Re: Bookends keeps attaching new PDF to existing reference
Please try my advice to Joao above: I have two suggestions: 1. Try with a fresh new library. If you can reproduce this with a new library, then 2. Download the Bookends 14 demo and try it with that new library (not your existing library). Jon Sonny Software Nervously, I just updated to v 14.0 and u...

Re: Bookends keeps attaching new PDF to existing reference
Then something must have changed on your system. Have you tried Rebuilding the library? Jon Sonny Software Jon, I performed a repair and then rebuild. The same behavior persists. The PDF dropped on Bookends insists that it should be assigned and renamed with the name of the currently highlighted re...

Re: Bookends keeps attaching new PDF to existing reference
13.5.5, which is same version I've been using for same process without any previous similar incident. ie; I didn't just install 13.5.5 and find this issue the first time I used it.

Bookends keeps attaching new PDF to existing reference
I'm putting a PDF file of an article into my watch folder (also tried drag and drop on the application icon with same result) and Bookends is repeatedly attaching the file to an existing reference which already has a PDF file. The one it's attaching shares nothing in common that I can find with the ...

Re: Why does "copy citation" result in copy+paste of citation?
Why? -- because it's useful. That's always been the behavior of Copy Citation (and if the paste stopped working for a while, it was either due to a change in the Word AppleEvents dictionary, which did occur years ago and was resolved, or because the security setting of macOS interfered). This behav...

Why does "copy citation" result in copy+paste of citation?
When I select "Copy Citation" (any version of this from the contextual menu, Bookends copies AND pastes the citation at the location of the cursor in whatever Word document is selected, EVEN IF that is not the active window that I was most recently using. Why does a copy command result in ...

How to change default behaviors in auto complete window?
When I select autocomplete and the window appears... 1. If there are more than one results found, they appear in what seems to be a random order (ie; not by "relevance", date, author or anything else). Also, there doesn't appear to be a way to sort the results by any fields. Can the option...

PDF preview of newly added items starts at the very end of the PDF?
When I import a new PDF and then go to view it in the PDF preview window at the bottom, it defaults to viewing the very last page of the PDF. Is there a reason for this? I never want to start reading a PDF from the last page and cannot think of a use case for this default behavior. A previous refere...

Jon, thanks. Learning more about how the browser within the lower pane works is definitely a very helpful step.

Re: Does "Get PDF" from Internet use my EZProxy?
Jon, thanks. I wasn't aware of the browser option in the lower pane. That does work for references that have URLs. Papers3 used multiple search options and found virtually every PDF which became detached from reference, whether it had a URL or not. I believe it searched title and other fields. But,...
