Strange problems with search results
I started noticing a few weeks ago that something seems to be wrong with my database. I have 28 references of type “Electronic publication” but when I created a smart group defined as “Type is Electronic publication”, none of these referendes show up. I tried three of the library maintanance options...

Adding comma at end of Short Title field removes formatting
I want Bookends not to automatically capitalize what I've entered in the Short Title field so I add a comma at the end of the field. This unfortunately also removes any text formatting such as italics that I have used in the field.
Am I correct in thinking this is a bug?

Is there a way to reorder list of reference types in pop-up window?
I've created a number of new reference types. Now when I open the pop-up window in the "reference edit pane" to change the reference type, I get a long, unsorted list. Is there any way to reorder this list? If there's no easy way to do this in the GUI, which file in the Bookends folder con...

Copy labels
I'm in Preferences > Refs and looking at the Types list. Is it possible to select a particular type and copy all the labels from that type to a different type? I'm thinking I could do this by editing ~/Library/Application Support/Bookends/TypesAndLabels.txt, but is there maybe a different way that m...

Re: Recovering "Field Order" for "Book, basic format"
OK, thanks. I recovered an old version of the .fmt file in ~/Library/Application Support/Bookends/Custom Formats. That did the trick.
Thanks for your help, Jon.
Cheers,
Matthew

Recovering "Field Order" for "Book, basic format"
I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing and I mistakenly entered new format fields into the "Field Order" box of the default type, "Book, basic format". I actually wanted to enter the new format info for a different type, but I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing. I...

Bookends formats from Mac to iPad version
On the Mac I have modified the Chicago 17th A format for my purposes. I primarily work on the Mac but thought it might be helpful to be able to process things on my iPad sometimes. I installed the Bookends app on the iPad and have set up synchronization. When I noticed that my bibliography items are...

Is there a way to print out overview of types and fields?
In Preferences > Refs - Is there a way to print out or otherwise see an overview of all the values in the Types area and for each of these types the currently defined Labels?
Thanks,
Matthew

Re: Question about @
That's exactly what I'm doing. But when I use that it doesn't always expand the way I expect it to. I'm using the following formatting string: {,” @.^.” } It transforms the temp citation: {temp cite@44-45} correctly to: John Doe, "My Book," 44-45. But when the temp citation is just: {temp ...

Question about @
Let's say I have a reference with author John Doe and title "My Book". A subsequent citation should be formatted like this: John Doe, "My Book." If a subsequent citation includes cited pages, I'd like it to look like this: John Doe, "My Book," 44-45. How do I define thi...

Case rules for the first word of a field
In citations I believe it is safe to say that in general the next word following a period , i.e. “.”, should be capitalized. On the other hand the next word following a semicolon, i.e. “; should start with a lower case letter, unless it is, for example, a title. Is it possible to implement this some...
