A simple Database Maintenance -> Repair should fix this. Jon Sonny Software I just has the same problem (after a rare BE crash) but Repair did not fix it and even worse I can not rebuild my library, which appears to be corrupted somehow. Every time I now try to open it, I get this "Database se...

In PHP, the comma after an array item (in this case, the tag mapping) can be omitted if it's the last item in an array, but all other array items must be separated by a comma. Please make sure that there's a comma character after the "ID" => "call_number" mapping. If you add the...

Btw, you don't need to comment the "ID" => "call_number" mapping, since tag mappings higher up in the mappings array get overwritten by any subsequent mappings to the same refbase field (unless the RIS tags are also specified in '$tagsMultipleArray' in which case the info will g...

The contents of the 'label' tag in Endnote XML will be copied to the refbase 'call_number' field. OMM, Bookends exports contents of the 'User1' (Key) field to the 'label' tag in Endote XML which then gets imported into the 'call_number' field. I.e., by default, you should be able to transfer conten...

OK, the problem with the RIS upload was solved, I think it was due to BE exporting the file with mac line breaks, but refbase wants UNIX line breaks (the old story). May be this could be changed? However, I ran into other problems with the RIS export/import. Series and other editors in book chapters...

OK, from what I gather is that BE puts JA - Mol. Phyl. Evol. SP - 392-397 whereas Sciencedirect gives: JO - Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution SP - 392 EP - 397 That's the only differences from what I figure. So Journal abbreviation, and pages numbers are different, and the order of the fields.

OK, ticked it now (it was by default). still no luck with Refbase, but imports fine into BE (not using EN anymore). again, RIS files from the web (GoogleScholar, ScienceDirect) import fine into Refbase, just the ones from BE not :cry: No, havven't been in touch with Matthias directly, just tried the...

thanks for the quick reply. Yes, using 10.0.3 and unticked "Don't clean up consequtive spaces" as you suggested, but still did not work (btw: output was with Mac line breaks; set those to UNIX for refbase import, still no luck). I can send you the file by email if you like. best Gert Hi, I...

Bookends -> Refbase Problems

Hi there, (this has been posted also to the Refbase forum) I have a problem with exporting from Bookends into our lab's Refbase installation (which works fine otherwise) like in a thread in the Refbase forum. Qutoe: "Also, I haven't managed to import any references. The Upload to Refbase comman...

BTW, in another post you mention that your pdfs are on a server. Bookends (that is, Spotlight) only searches the local hard drive. This is set to change in Leopard. yes. we have all PDFs on our lab server, but I also keep a synchronized copy of that folder on my hard disk. this one is the one I am ...

Why not simply place the pdfs (in their subfolders) in the Bookends default attachments folder? Then Bookends wouldn't make a copy of them (because they are already there) when they were found? Thanks for your quick attention, Jon (as usual much appreciated). I followed your suggestions and put all...

copy move attachments - leave them where they are!

Hi there, I really appreciate the new feature of automatically finding PDFs on your hard drive (though it did not really work for me during first trials), but what I really do not like is that BE automatically copies the PDFs into a separate folder. I have several GB of PDFs on my hard disk, sorted ...

Re: Filing downloaded journal articles for future reference.

First(Corresponding) Author, Journal Volume(Issue) Year, Abbreviation of Title.pdf Hi there, in my lab we are using the following format, which has served us well. FirstAuthorLastName Year Journal.pdf (i.e. "other" in the poll). we have a list of alphabetic folders on the lab server, wher...

Re: Wow

Wow, you mean you'll fix it? All the Thomson-ISI people ever said to me was that I should delete the preferences and try again! Or, they confirmed it was a bug and then never issued a patch. Sorry, I'm just a little bitter about buying a couple of versions of EndNote over the last five years and ha...
