Re: Importing EndNote 7 and 8 Files without XML file
I suspected that was the case. Thanks for you the answer, and don't worry, I'm not going back to EndNote!

Re: Importing EndNote 7 and 8 Files without XML file
Thank you for your prompt reply; however the problem is that I can no longer run my old copy of EndNote because it is a PowerPC app and I didn't export my EndNote libraries before upgrading my Mac and losing the ability to run PowerPC apps. What I need is a way to import EndNote's ENL files to BookE...

Importing EndNote 7 and 8 Files without XML file
I have just updated my Mac from 10.6 to 10.7 (yes, I know, I'm on the "trailing edge") and now my old copy of EndNote 8 won't run. (It was a PowerPC application.) That's not a big deal, except that I do occasionally open an old EndNote library from a previous project to look for a referenc...

Re: Bookends significantly faster?
Interesting, I find it significantly slower. For me there is real delay, sometimes more than a second, when opening references from List View. Other functions seem to be ok.

Re: Chicago A Journal format with "new series"
Wow, that was simple. I just put "new series" in the volume field in front of the volume number and presto, there it was in the formatted version. I guess I should have tried that first.
Thanks,
-Robert.

Chicago A Journal format with "new series"
Hello, I realize this is a bit of a specific request, but I am dealing with a number of nineteenth-century journals that every couple of years would re-start their numbering at volume 1 noting that this was a "new series." Indeed, I have at least one journal that did this three times! Obvi...

Display Apple Pages documents in Bookends?
Perhaps this has been dealt with before but I can't find it in the forums, but should Bookends be able to display Apple Pages documents in the preview pane? And if not, why not? Just wondering.

9.0.4 and attachments
Is there is a way to automatically update the paths to attachments that are not in the "default folder"? I have updated my copy of Bookends from 9.0.3 to 9.0.4 and it is very annoying to update all of the attachments manually. (Yes, I was warned, but I just didn't think it would be this mu...

Selecting a group as hits
I've been through the User's Guide and haven't found the answer to my question, which is: Is there a way to add all of the references in a Group to the Hit List? I have tried the Select All References command, which, as advertised, selects all of the references in the database. I have also tried the...

Wow
Wow, you mean you'll fix it? All the Thomson-ISI people ever said to me was that I should delete the preferences and try again! Or, they confirmed it was a bug and then never issued a patch. Sorry, I'm just a little bitter about buying a couple of versions of EndNote over the last five years and hav...

Call numbers in EndNote
Below is a sample record from my EndNote XML export. The call number is enclosed with the <call-num> tag. I've used EndNote for so long that I don't remember if this is a standard field or is I added it. I think it's standard. As for the other problem I had importing to Bookends -- book title info w...

Where does the extra data go when importing?
I just bought Bookends after fighting with EndNote for the last couple of years and have some newbie questions. 1. I imported an EndNote library into Bookends using XML and it worked pretty good, except for some reason the book titles in the Book Chapter reference type got dropped into the Series ti...
