Many thanks, Jon! I look forward to the update. JoelI've decided to make this a preference setting in the next update. The default for a double click is to open the PDF viewer, but you can set it to open the edit pane/window.

Re: Bookends 12.5 Feedback
My preference would be to have Publisher and City above Abstract. They are small fields and I rarely enter an abstract for a book and if I have notes they're usually pretty short. Joel

Re: Bookends 12.5 Feedback
Jon thanks for considering some form of reference editing window. You are correct that we could resize the window but then we'd spend a lot of time making the window bigger and smaller. And—when you make it bigger you frequently have to resize some of the fields within the window. Again, thanks for ...

Re: Bookends 12.5 Feedback
While I understand the need to modernize the interface, for me the loss of the separate reference window reduces functionality. I would frequently have a PDF open in an Acrobat window or on a web page and then have the reference window open in the upper right corner. This would leave quite a bit of ...

Bibliography Not Sorted Correctly
I'm outputting a bibliography and the order of the references is in Ref # order with the exception of the first reference. The first reference in the list is #3520, followed by #248, #553, #590 and so on. I have Alphabetize references checked in Bibliography Options and the Sort order is set to Auth...

Database Engine Error: Locked in Table "thereferences"
Very Occasionally when I change the reference type I get the following error message: Database Engine Error: Record "xxxx" is locked in table "thereferences" where xxxx is the reference number. It doesn't seem to cause any harm, just a minor annoyance. I'm using Bookends 10.4.3, ...

Re: Update install fails
I got the same error and I'm using 10.4.11. Downloading from the web site worked fine for me as well. Here is what my Bookends.app Info pane said: Version: Bookends 10.4 Ownership & Permsissions You can Read & Write Details: Owner: Joel Access: Read & Write Group: wheel Access: Read only...

Re: newbie question: Importing citation
Jon, I'm confused... I tried that before and just tried it again - Bookends wants to attach it to the citation that is currently highlighted, not import it as a citation. Thanks. Joel

Re: newbie question: Importing citation
You've been given the techie answer... What I do is definitely less elegant but works for a tech weeny. Select the BibTex format. This will often create a file named citmgr. Save it to your desktop. Either ctl-click on the file and open with TextEdit or add a .txt extension and double-click on the f...

Re: Easy Way to See that All References are Assigned to a Group?
That did the trick! I found about 10 references in my 1200+ reference database that were not assigned to at least one group. Thanks for the quick, helpful tip, Jon.

Re: Easy Way to See that All References are Assigned to a Group?
Jon, this sounds like it will do the trick but I don't understand all of step #2. I can select all of the groups but where do you want me to set the boolean to "or?" Thanks. Joel

Easy Way to See that All References are Assigned to a Group?
I assign each reference to at least one static group. Is there any easy way to sort the references or view them so that I can see if there are any references that are not assigned to at least one group? I looked here and in the manual for more information but didn't see anything. Thanks. Joel
