Re: Notecard search
I agree with Jon. And, BTW: I had not thought about the usage scenario you (Jon) mentioned: you can do exactly what you want as it now stands -- do a Find for "bookends" (or make a smart group that finds "bookends") in notes (or title, or all), then in the live search field (note...

Re: Notecard search
I'm not sure I follow exactly how "Way #2" works. Just to make sure I understand, are you saying that (under the "Way #2" scenario) if I type "bookends rocks" in the search field (and it's an "All" search), what would be returned is: • All References with eith...

Re: Notecard search
This looks outstanding and sounds like it will be a very useful addition to an already great piece of software! I like some of what "aechallu" says here: < https://www.sonnysoftware.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3056&start=45#p13810 > But I agree with you that the kind of function...

Re: Notecard search
Jon, Thanks for starting a new thread for this specific issue. I agree with w.yaqoob. Showing just the notecards that meet the search criteria is a lot more useful than option 2. That, combined with the ability to command-click specific notecards that are returned by a search, would make it very qui...

Re: Shortcut to create New Note???
(and it's kind of clunky, no offense) Oh, no offense taken what so ever. I'm not a programmer, just a user. So, I'm quite sure the solutions I might come up with would not be as elegant as either what is possible or what you would produce. Thanks for thinking about all this. Blessings. Would still ...

Re: Shortcut to create New Note???
Let me make sure I understand: So, in theory (and hopefully practice :-)) instead of having a group (Smart Stack), if I wanted to find all my Notecards in reference database tagged "D-Day," I would type "%D-Day". Then, in the middle pane I would see only the references in my data...

Re: Shortcut to create New Note???
Okay, great (that both options are theoretically doable). Given that option 1 would be a step backward, however, let me ask this about option 2: If option 2 were implemented, would it be possible to add some kind of means to further refine a Smart Stack, like maybe a check box as a part of each Note...

Re: Shortcut to create New Note???
It makes a lot of sense. What I'm having a problem with is visualizing what you'd want to happen when you searched for notecards containing "D-Day". You don't want the references returned, it seems (which is what normal searches do). You want a list of notecards (where, a separate window?...

Re: Shortcut to create New Note???
Thanks for the quick reply. I don't know how to do one of those fancy mock-ups like I see other users doing (yes, I'm jealous). So, I'll try to explain a little more clearly. Imagine I have 5 individual references. Each of those references has 10 notes and quotes that I have collected as individual ...

Re: Shortcut to create New Note???
Jon, I want to ask if a certain feature you've mentioned in this thread will accomplish something I think would make the Notecards even more useful than they already are; that is, the ability to create "Stacks" of select Notecards. First, here's a little bit of an exchange you have had wit...

Re: Global Spell Checking
Hi, I was going to make a feature request for "Global Spell Checking," but then noticed this had been requested once before. So, I thought I would just bump this current thread. Jon, has any more thought been given to this feature? I know for me, it's a real pain to have to work back throu...

Re: Feature Request: Highlight and Annotate PDF
Thanks, Jon. I'm still using 10.4 (Tiger). That said, I can't find the Preview functionality you mentioned--I suspect it's in an upgraded version from the one I have. Hmmm . . . could be a reason to upgrade . . . say, don't you get the latest OS when you purchase a new Mac? Hmmmm . . . :D If I do up...

Re: Feature Request: Highlight and Annotate PDF
i know (and i really like how you implemented the note stream - thank you!!! ) - but i actually copy the text in the pdf and have a keyboard short cut which when activated in the note stream pastes the copied text, adds quotation marks, adds @ and places the cursor after the @ so i can add the page...
