Bibliography in order cited

Hi I need to produce a bibliography that is a list of works cited, in the order of their appearance in the text. I wondered if unchecking "Alphabetize references" in Formats Manager would give this result, but it doesn't, in fact they seem to be still in alphabetic order. Please is there a...

Re: Names of parent and child in Metatype

Thanks for guidance. OK, my work-around is, after generating bibliography, I am running a series of Search-Replace (a FindSet in Mellel) to catch all those editors' names in MLA-style cross-references. It works.

Names of parent and child in Metatype

Hi, Can author names be treated differently for the [parent] in a metatype? I can get both surname-only, or both full name, but I haven't worked out how to make just parent surname-only. i.e. in Works Cited there is the edited book: Editor-surname, Editor-forename ed. Edited-book-title. Place: Publi...

Re: MLA author initial after surname

I have now tried that, but it has got worse, now I just get: Writing XXX (Clark 22) and further YYY (Clark 33) and also ZZZ (Clark 44) I tried different permutations of "For repeated citations" checkbox turned on or off A couple times I had a "MLA Citations" does not exist messag...

Re: MLA author initial after surname

P.S. I notice in Formats Manager that within "MLA Citations" the "custom citations format" is set to ABNT
have my settings gone wrong?

MLA author initial after surname

When I put in citations by authors with same surname the in-text citations end up with initials after the surname e.g. Bookends generates: Writing XXX (Clark, Ascetic Piety 22) and further YYY (Clark, EA 33) and also ZZZ (Clark, G 44) whereas the inital should go before surname according to the MLA ...

Notes Stream

Can the Notes field in Bookends, or the Notes Stream, be indexed by Devonthink?

I understand that if they exist underneath as files in /Applications folder they can be indexed by Devonthink, otherwise not?

John

Text files attachment

When I drag a text file .txt trying to attach to a reference, instead the dialog
< Import references from : > appears.

Other file formats eg pdf, doc, drag and attach ok

Is there a way to drag attach .txt files to a ref?

regards, John

SQL date

Trying to catch items added on a particular date into a search. In the User Guide I can see dateModified is a field (or an attribute?) and I am guessing that dateAdded is the term to use? I tried SQL... dateAdded = '09-11-2009' (for 9 November) but that gives a search error so I have got something w...

Re: citation page and page range

Hi - just checking that I have got this right: when a page from an article or chapter is cited and the format requires that both the page range of the whole article, and then the page cited, be listed, is quoted text the way to do it? > from 2007 > "If you want both the pages field AND a specif...

Re: Other metatypes

> I'll take Work Reviewed [Review] as the first suggestion. Yes this would be very useful. Often for a book there will be between 1 and 6 reviews (in my case these are in journals) of interest. I have vacillated between giving each review its own record, a clean approach but extra work linking them ...
