untold frustration like never before!
I'm having continual, never-ending, unacceptable problems with ambiguous citations. In Bookends, I selected: Preferences, Scan&Bib, Cite by, Turabian In Mellel from the edit menu, I then ran Bibliography, Verify Citations. Even though there are no ambiguous citations in the document -- each has ...

Thanks Jon. My experience is mixed: 1) the CONTENT is easy to reference in your library, but it can yield ambiguous results. 2) the UNIQUE ID is bullet proof (i.e., no ambiguity), but I have a terrible time trying to figure out the reference (when the same author has numerous entires in my database)...

"Cite By" -- recommendation?
Hello, Bookends' preferences allow users to select one of two formats to "cite by" -- (1) Content; (2) author, date, ID. I'm curious, what do others use and why: What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? In a large thesis project with lots of citations, what would those who've bee...

SOLVED
I found a solution: I deleted the items in the database that would not verify (see the Mellel menu; 'verify' is one of the choices under bibliography). I re-entered and it now works as expected.
Thanks Jon

citations will not verify??
Hello, I running Mellel 2.2.7.1 (latest) and BE 10.1.2 (latest) and keep hitting the wall: When I "Verify Citations" in Mellel, they will not verify. I keep getting unrecognized citations. I've tried: 1) rebuilding the database 2) re-entering the problem citations in BE 3) re-copying the p...

Bookends + Mellel = Killer Writer's Combo!
Its been a few months since I've tackled a heavy academic writing task. The current releases of Bookends and Mellel are absolutely awesome! Frankly, it's hard to believe how far these applications have advanced since I began using them some two years ago. Jon, thank you! I—along with many others I...

Jon, Thanks for the quick reply, but I didn't explain well. In a document I want Bookends to normally use Ibid, but occasionally I want to use the full reference. In other words, in a Mellel document, I want Bookends to use Ibid by default, but I want to override Ibid on rare occasion. (When I unche...

Exclude footnote from bibliography?
Hi,
I use Mellel and Bookends.
I like the automatic scan + generate bibliography option. But, I don't necessarily want all footnote citations included in the bibliography,
Is there a way to automatically exclude a footnote citation from the bibliography?
Thanks!!
-steve.

Is there a way to turn 'ibid' on and off?
I uses Mellel and Bookends (an awesome combo!!).
I generally use Ibid for repeated references. But, occasionally, it doesn't fit the note.
Is there a way to force Bookends to cite the reference and not use Ibid?
Thanks,
-steve.

Unused Reference Type
Hello- Is there a way to change the default fields in an unused reference type? For example, the fields associated with my Unused Reference 1 are for a Journal. I would like the fields to be those of a Book. Is there a way to change the fields? Or, can you only change the field labels? thanks!! -steve
