Re: [Feature Request] Cite As You Write Online (e.g. Wordpress, Medium etc)

I don't know. But even if so Bookends would report missing citations, which would be confusing. And it wouldn't work with Mellel. And perhaps other issues that don't immediately come to mind.

Re: superscript citations

Mellel is highly recommended.

As for the style sheet changing -- you're having the scanned document put back in the same window, right? Not a new window...

Re: superscript citations

Make sure that the style sheet in your Word document is set to the size you want. When Bookends unscans the style sheet is applied by Word. The space that occurs when you insert the citation? That is done by Word trying to be helpful (and failing), not Bookends. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it do...

Re: superscript citations

Make a new format based on APA. Then go to the Citation Options tab, change the citation style to Number, and tell Bookends to superscript them.

Re: [Feature Request] Cite As You Write Online (e.g. Wordpress, Medium etc)

I've done some preliminary tests and think I can get this to work -- double grave accent

``temp cite``

Will that work for you?

Re: [Feature Request] Cite As You Write Online (e.g. Wordpress, Medium etc)

I don't like adding it as a general temp citation method because it's specific to BibTeX. It's also only used for text files, it doesn't work with word processors. But the solution is already available -- you can use it now in conjunction with the Key field. Bookends will automatically fill out that...

Make sure you have the latest Bookends for iOS release, this was already fixed.

Re: [Feature Request] Cite As You Write Online (e.g. Wordpress, Medium etc)

We offer a number of alternative possibilities already, ones that I would have thought avoided problems with math formatting and markup. You or others can suggest another set of ASCII key pairings that would work in all situations.

Re: [Feature Request] Cite As You Write Online (e.g. Wordpress, Medium etc)

Changing the temp citation delimiters to the final ones if the reference is not found was a choice made long ago because I thought that was better in cases where one of a group wasn't found (e.g. one of three in a citation group). That behavior could be changed, and the enclosing punctuation left al...

Please send me your library and tell be what reference to look at. And please send screen snaps of what you're doing and what is wrong.

Re: Page ranges: dash missing after latest update (Mellel)

Thanks for the files. It's fixed. I'll make a silent update this evening, please download 13.2.1 again tomorrow.

Re: Page ranges: dash missing after latest update (Mellel)

There was a silent update that fixed this for Mellel in-text citations (e.g. (1–5) ). So download 13.2.1 again. But I don't see a problem in footnote. Please send me a simple Mellel document that has this issue and your library. I'll check it out here.

Re: Custom reference types/field labels missed after update

I'm glad you like this. Yes, that's one reason we did it. It was also done in preparation for a long called-for feature we expect to include in the next update, which I'll just tease now... :-)

Re: Custom reference types/field labels missed after update

What kind of thing? Software is complicated and unexpected things happen. There's nothing wrong with our code, which we thoroughly tested, but it turned out that on a small number of systems Bookends was being prevented from writing the file containing the old types and labels (why -- who knows? Ant...

Re: Custom reference types/field labels missed after update

If you are having this problem please download Bookends 13.2.1 again (if you're not having this problem don't bother, you have the correct build).
