Re: Default attachments sub-folder for an open library

Of course it's not going to change, it's a fundamental aspect of how Bookends deals with attachments (and has many advantages). You can rename the attachment when you move it (e.g. add a random number, or whatever) and then update the attachment field in the library to contain the new name. Or not. ...

Re: Default attachments sub-folder for an open library

Bookends doesn't store attachment paths, it stores just the name of the attachment. Bookends will then look in the default folder or subfolders for that attachment. So you must move, not copy, the file to the subfolder, or Bookends will find the pdf of the same name in the default folder. This is wh...

Re: Default attachments sub-folder for an open library

You can't. But you know the name of the default folder. And if you know the subfolders assigned to each library, you can get the name of the open libraries, match them to the subfolders you assigned, and look in /default folder/subfolder1, /default folder/subfolder1, etc.

Re: How to fix that problem with bibtex references?

You have unmatched `characters. BibTeX output is tricky, you need to pay careful attention to the details our it won't work. See if this works better for you `@Book{`u1`,`$ author = $`{`a`}`, $ title = $`{`t`}`, $ volume = $`{`v`}`, $ pages = $`{`p-`}`, $ editor = $`{`e`}`, $ publisher = $`{`u`}`, $...

Re: How to fix that problem with bibtex references?

It looks like you modified the BibTeX format. Without seeing what you did it's impossible to say what is wrong.

Re: How do I copy attachments to a new library folder?

When you assign a particular attachment folder *subfolder* to a library, all subsequent attachments are moved there (if you tell Bookends to do that, of course), but existing attachments aren't. The only built in function I can think of that is related may or may not be of use here. Look up Global C...

Re: Hyperlinks to reference in Nisus Writer Pro

Not from Bookends end of things, that would be a word processor function. It's possible you could do this in Mellel, although you may have to manually indicate which numbers belong to which items in the bibliography. In any case, you should ask this on the Mellel forum (and perhaps write to Mellel t...

Re: The background color

Read what. You can change the background color of the Summary view, you can't of the edit pane. But you can switch to Dark Mode, in which case you'll have white on black.

Re: Web of Science filter

I tried the WoS direct search from a location where there is ip authentication and it worked. Searching for "cancer" returned 3571061 hits. Importing worked as expected. So the issue isn't WoS itself or the filter. There must be some local issue (for example. a firewall, and Bookends isn't whitelist...

Re: Systematic review help

Use Refs -> Remove Duplicates. Bookends will allow you to set the stringency of duplicate detection, and after duplicates are found you can have Bookends remove them for you, or you can have Bookends show them to you so that you can manually verify, and even alter which, references are to be removed...
