Re: BE freezes when retrieving PDFs
In theory there is no limit, which is why I can't think why this should happen. And it's tough to debug from a distance, especially since I don't have your 100's of PDFs. You should be able to force quit without damaging the library. Of course you have backups (Bookends creates them, and I hope you ...

Re: Replace citations of another reference manager (Zotero) in an already-written-word-doc
I really don't know much about Zotero's citations. But I just took a look and their temporary citations look like this (generated with Copy Citation in Zotero): (Umelo-Njaka, Nomellini, Yim, et al. 2001; Patterson 2001; Jacobs, Hung, and Shapiro 2001; Umelo-Njaka, Nomellini, Bingle, et al. 2001; Bru...

Re: Extra comma in subsequent citations with short title
For citations don't output the p- (unless that's what you want). To cite ad hoc pages, use Cited Pages

Re: Extra comma in subsequent citations with short title
You tell Bookends what to output before and after the Cited Pages in the format. So edit the format and remove the ", " in the Before field.

Re: Attachment Disaster
Change the default attachment folder to something else. Then, add one attachment from the folder Other's Papers. Bookends will now treat Other's Papers as an ad hoc attachment folder. That means it can find PDFs stored there, but it will not *move* PDFs there. They will be moved to the default folde...

Re: Attachment Disaster
So you don't want Bookends to see the attachments in Other's Papers, is that right? If so, change the default attachment folder to what it whatever it was before (best if it is the factory default, but not necessary). If Bookends still sees attachments in the Other's Papers folder, click on the Mana...

Re: BE freezes when retrieving PDFs
Impossible to know what's going on when that happens. If you can isolate which reference is causing the problem and I can reproduce it it should be possible to track it down. Since your screen snap shows you're on the first reference, just try that alone. Then contact tech support (support@sonnysoft...

Re: Allow the user to choose the default Type in the Formats Manager
I understood you. I'm thinking showing the default reference type when a format is opened (regardless of its position in the popup menu!). Bookends does *not* permanently default fo the Journal Article Type. That's what I was trying to explain. It defaults to the *first* Type in the popup menu (whic...

Re: Allow the user to choose the default Type in the Formatting Manager
You can choose the default reference type now, it's just not applied to the format popup menu. But I think it could be.

Re: Allow the user to choose the default Type in the Formatting Manager
1. They'd still be Journal Articles. But without that Type they'd be formatted like Books (or whatever the default first Type is in the format popup menu). When you added the journal type back to the format they'd be formatted as Journal Articles again. 3. Yes. You're not changing the *references* T...

Re: Allow the user to choose the default Type in the Formatting Manager
You could of course add back the Journal Article Type at any time. It would NOT be what was there originally. So if you were to do this, I'd copy the Primary Order field (and Subsequent, if not empty) and paste it into something like TextEdit. Then when you recreate the delete Journal Article Type, ...
