Re: APA 7 and DOI/URL hyperlinks formating in MS Word
@iandol The first example works because it's using a conditional group, which is bounded by curly brackets, { }. You need to do the same in the second example: [{$DOI:$u17^z}] FYI, you can have many conditions in a group, placing a ^ between each of them. E.g.: {a^t^d^j^} which means 1. output autho...

@rossadam
Yes, for each Type in the format you would add <<z><z>> wherever you wanted the reference's URL to be displayed as a link.

Re: APA 7 and DOI/URL hyperlinks formating in MS Word
You can create live hypertext links in formatted references. Please refer to the User Guide, p. 263, "Embedding live hypertext links in formatted references" Briefly, in the format use one of two variations: [descriptive text](the URL) or <<descriptive text><the URL>> The former is preferr...

Re: multiple Attachement Identification
A first cut that might be enough would be to add a smart SQL group that finds references with more than one attachment (it's a built-in option when you create a smart SQL group). Then add a new column Attachments in the library window. It's not fully automated, but it should then be possible to sele...

Re: Journal Abbreviation
Before ansering -- are you using the Medline journal glossary? If not, you should. If you do, why do you want to import the short title? If that's really what you want, though, you can. Edit the PubMed filter. The PubMed tag for full journal name is JT. The tag for abbreviated name is TA. Please the...

Re: Journal Abbreviation
You mean you want to create your own journal glossary, in addition to the ones we provide, and import journal abbreviations from somewhere? You can't do that, but you can create your own glossary in a text file and have Bookends use that glossary. If that's what you want to do I'll tell you how. Or ...

Re: Barcode scan
And although I know it's more involved than you like, remember that when you scan you can right-click on the "found" window and copy the ISBN. You can paste this into a LOC online search and import from there, if it's found.

Re: Barcode scan
Hm, that's not something I''d be included to do. Maybe your experience is different, but the LOC often (usually for me) doesn't identify an ISBN that Google Books and other book repositories do. I do have another possible source for ISBN searches that I'm considering, but it works far better than th...

Re: Reference links in a synced BibTex file?
If you want to export a link to the reference in the Bookends database to Obsidian, that is easily done. Markdown hypertext links look like this: [human-readable text](URI) To achieve this in Bookends, go to the Format Manager and edit the format you are using. If it''s BibTeX, you'd add a line that...

Would explain a bit more? Exactly what do these reference links look like, and what is the workflow for generating them?

Re: Only year or full year? That is here the question…
You could achieve this by entering the year in a user field and specifying that in the Subsequent order field.

Re: Odd behavior with circumflex accent and subsequent citation
Without stepping through the code, my guess is that since you've moved the author out of the formatted citation Bookends treats it as a missing field. Since it's missing, the space before the data isn't output. There are at least two solutions I can think of. 1. Don't use the caret, it's really a co...
