Re: Odd behavior with circumflex accent and subsequent citation
Without stepping through the code, my guess is that since you've moved the author out of the formatted citation Bookends treats it as a missing field. Since it's missing, the space before the data isn't output. There are at least two solutions I can think of. 1. Don't use the caret, it's really a co...

Re: Field codes to plain text after scan in word document?
You can scan again, and in the dialog uncheck "Retain Hidden Citations". Alternatively, you can do this in Word directly. I've never done it myself, but if you google there are lots of hits. Here's one I found: Command-A (select all the text in the doc). Command-6 (changes all the field co...

Re: Subsequent Citations question
No, there isn't any kind of statistical breakdown of the scan. After a scan every reference cited will be a Hit, which may help a bit in telling you which references to check in the document. What you might do as a workaround is to make a duplication of that format and, in the "subsequent"...

Re: Subsequent Citations question
You're right, you can't. You can conditionally alter the appearance of a citation depending on the presence or absence of a field's metadata, but not on conditions that arise when scanning such as this. The only way I can think of doing this is to have a short title entry only for references you are...

Re: Font size for what you see on the screen
Those settings are on the Main tab of Settings -- Default fonts. In addition, the formatted view pane and the PDF viewer have zoom in and zoom out capabilities.

Re: Fraudulent Bookends ratings on MacUpdate
No, I have no idea who they are (bots?) or why they do this. But when I look I see their fingerprints on lots of apps that are totally unrelated (utilities, screen recorders, etc.). There is no pattern I'm aware of. I can't think of who might benefit from such a relatively minor (but very annoying) ...

Fraudulent Bookends ratings on MacUpdate
I check in with MacUpdate from time to time to see if there is new Bookends feedback. Although there isn't much activity, in the last month I've noticed a slow erosion of the star rating, which was due to a steady drip of 1 star ratings (not reviews, which require user comments), beginning September...

Yes. Select the references you want to refresh and use Refs -> Generate Citekey (Shift-Command K).

Re: 'Added today' group remains empty
This thread deals only with searches for dates established programmatically (e.g. date added and date modified). If you mean dates imported or entered manually in the Date field, they are free-form.

Re: 'Added today' group remains empty
Don't forget, in the next update dashes and periods in that SQL date part-search will not work, but slashes will work for everyone. You can still use whatever you want in the database date field, however.

Re: Scanning in Microsoft Word: keeping the cursor position and displaying the style choice window
There are a lot more options than just changing the format. Sorry, I don't see making relatively significant changes in the UI (adding complicating new UI elements) for such a trivial thing.

Re: Sync smart groups between Mac and iOS
That's been discussed in a number of threads, and the answer is no. Bookends for Mac and iOS use different database engines with very different capabilities (the macOS one is far more powerful). With Wi-Fi sync, smart Mac groups can be synced to iOS, but they become static groups on that device. We'...

Re: Scanning in Microsoft Word: keeping the cursor position and displaying the style choice window
It's conceivable that Bookends could keep the cursor location approximately where it was when the scan began, but likely not, since the text before it will often if not usually change as temp citations are removed and replaced with final citations. But since Bookends is doing the scan and replacemen...
