Re: multiple citations
On a related note, when I add the cited pages to a Mellel citation, the cited pages is not displayed in the little blue box, and it should be. Is this a Mellel issue or a BE issue? Anything you see in Mellel is a Mellel issue, not Bookends. I think they don't show it to save space. You'll see it if...

If it could also include a similar combination that would be good. Replacing: ; ; [that is, semicolon space semicolon] with ; [that is, semicolon only] The period version takes care of the formatting for bibliographies. But footnotes separate the various parts of the citation with semi-colons rather...

BTW, I tried another order that does not output two periods if both f and v are missing: use $ f v$.$ Jon Sonny Software However, in case where you have f, but no v, you don't get the period. The best option that I could come up with was: f$ $v'.' Using this: - if you have f and v, or f but no v, e...

It's not editable, but already have the ability to have reference info displayed in any form you want, by Type as well. Create a format for what you want to see (e.g. authors, title (bold), abstract, notes, whatever). Then use the View Formatted drawer at the bottom of the List View to see it. We a...

Re: Format special characters
Say there is a bit in a format like this: f v. (which is SerialName SerialNumber) As long as there is either a SerialName and SerialNumber, or neither, everything is ok. But if there is only a SerialName but no SerialNumber then you don't get the fullstop at the end. In the context of a complete fo...

Format special characters
Partly in view of suggestions at adding extra fields (which will make the following issue even more serious), but mainly in view of problems I have now, I was wondering if there was any chance of having additional special characters added to the formatting. At the moment, breaking between parts of a...

So far most of the discussion seems to have focused primarily on the reference window. I pretty much said what I wanted to say earlier on that (just get the extra fields in there, make them easily accessible and not too cluttered), but I wanted to add a couple of comments and suggestions about the l...

I'd register my vote for additional fields. I find it the single most limiting feature of Bookends at the moment. I certainly question any need to be able to see all of the fields (or in fact, even the majority of fields) at the same time in a single window. If extra fields were added, whether one g...

another followup
I've been messing around with this further, and have a question. I was looking at Endnote (sorry) to see why it could do what I wanted in this regard, and it has a breaking mechanism (a "|" symbol) which will determine which field non-field elements get associated with. So first up I tried...

Formatting question
I have question about the formatting. If I have two fields, - SeriesName (j) - SeriesNumber (v) For an item in the bibliography it is possible to have: - both fields blank - SeriesName only - SeriesName and SeriesNumber I typically want them to come out in the bibliography like this (including the f...

Re: please respond to poll for more fields in Bookends
Those converting from EndNote to Bookends will have noticed that EndNote has more than twice as many fields as Bookends; the number of fields in Sente is unlimited. Bookends is currently significantly limiting in storing discrete bibliographic information because it offers 19 fields. ...material de...

Import error
Hi, sorry I forgot this additional question. I exported a bibliography of about 1000 items from Endnote 7.0 and tried to import it into Bookends 8.1 and got this error message: Error: XMP parser error 14: reference to invalid character number. Is there any easy way to figure out which part of the xm...

font and formatting questions
I am currently investigating using Bookends/Mellel as a replacement for Endnote/Word. Currently I have questions about the following issues (sorry, this is a bit long...) 1. I have some text in a title field which is mostly the default font (Times), but a couple of words are in Galatia SIL (Greek wo...
