Re: Handbase on ipad

Thanks - that's really helpful. I have managed to successfully import a small number of refs, via a spreadsheet, deleting unwanted fields and then uploading into iphone Handbase running on ipad. It is possible to do this without first creating a database in Handbase on the ipad. There is an up-to-da...

Handbase on ipad

Has anyone tried Handbase on an ipad?

Would this be a way to carry Bookends references around?

Note, Sente are promising an ipad version of their software.

Thanks

HanDBase for bookends on iphone

Some years ago I used to be able to export sets of bibliographic references to transfer to HanDBase on a Palm. It was very easy to do. HanDBase is now available for the iphone. I've just managed to export a set of Bookends references to a trial version of the desktop iphone HanDBase but would have t...

Scanning doc

I have always had trouble getting BE to work with Mellel or Word( Database Engine Error: Record "UNKNOWN" is locked in table "the references" often occurs) I am now trying this agin. I have a 10,000 word paper overdue at the editors with approx 70 footnotes in Mellel. I have ente...

cb2Bib is a tool for quickly extracting data from very messy bibliographic references. BHA for example produces citations like this: Recuperating revolt : Aaron Spangler, Paul Chan, and Catherine Sullivan KERR,-Merrily Flash-art-International. 2004, v. 37, no. 236, May-June, p. 106-109; 8 ill. (2 co...

Term lists

Hadn't really noticed them - but now I've found them - very useful!
Do you need to remove them?

Single databases

One single database is what I prefer. Bookends allows you to create groups for managing references for specific projects, one of many reasons why it is better than Endnote. Keywords is another way to retrieve references associated with particular interests or projects. Good luck with building your d...

Clear reference from group

BE9

I can't clear a reference from a static group either by edit:clear or by delete key (which produced a message 'out of bounds error').

Many thanks

A -61 error usually means the file is already open. Make sure you don't have two copies of Bookends running (unlikely) and that the database gives you read/write permission (locked databases will give the same error). Jon Sonny Software It works just fine now. Thanks very much for this - it's looks...

BE9

I've downloaded BE9 and get error messages. I repaired and rebuilt my database but the problem is still there. ie Search Error -61 when trying to access groups. Then SQL/regex search appears. Reference window doesn't open: Search Error -61 List window is also truncated, fixed in width so can't see a...

"Yes, there is already a Preference for just that (Reference tab). You can use User1, 2, 3, or 4 for Call Number if you want it in the main reference window (and if necessary adjust any import filters you use accordingly)." Is this a case of fields being available for reference types? What...

One of the drawbacks of Endnote (among many) is the long reference entry window that doesn't fit on a screen. Wider is preferable to longer for reference entry. I don't understand what the problem is with a drawer opening in reference window or what having a reference entry window adjacent to a WP d...
