Glitch with hint text when changing reference type

Thanks, Jon, for adding the "Show hints in edit fields" checkbox to the "Refs" preference tab. I much prefer to have the hints hidden and have unchecked the box. However, there's a glitch in how this is implemented in BE 14.0.6. I'm running macOS 12.2.1 and I work in Light Mode. ...

Re: Great update of reference pane in 14.0.4

I would like the option to turn off the “hint text” when not in dark mode, which I rarely use. Options for reinforcing the boundaries of the fields so that the user can see where she's tabbing or pasting into would be fine. I'm running the latest version of Bookends (14.0.5), and I've downloaded the...

Unable to delete duplicate (?) link types

Six link types are defined in the Link Preferences of my BE installation: Book : Book Section Review : Work Reviewed Work : Work Cited Work : Commentary Work Translated : Translation Translation : Work Translated But the popup menu of the record inspector in my database lists two additional types, d...

Just to repair a small glitch my original post. The example file paths I listed should have been:

Re: Confused about iCloud sync

I wonder if perhaps this advice – don't use both Dropbox and iCloud – could be more clearly stated in the user guide? Many of us have been using DropBox for awhile to sync libraries. It's good that we can, apparently, continue to use that method. But the current BE documentation suggests – at least ...

Confused about iCloud sync

The new iCloud sync feature of Bookends 12.7 is intriguing. I've never had trouble using Dropbox to sync my home and office BE databases, but I trust that Jon has gone this route for good reasons. But I'm confused about how iCloud sync will operate in my current workflow. I maintain a folder of ongo...

This is splendid news, Jon. As always, thanks for your terrific support of BE, a product that I rely on every day and recommend to others as the best of its kind.

Inconsistent sorting when showing "All" references

(Bookends 11.0.6, Mac OS X 10.6.4.) I've noticed recently -- say, the last couple of months (but I'm not sure if this happened before) -- that the sorting order of the "All" group in my Bookends database will vary widely at different times -- different references will be listed in differen...

Interesting temp solutions until there is BE for iPad

I've been living with my iPad for several weeks now and find all manner of cool things to do with it. It would be *wonderful* to be able to carry along my Bookends database on the device, even if some desktop BE functions might not be included in an iPad version. But I realize that (re)coding BE for...

Re: Groups column

I suspect that this is first, a matter of taste and, second a function of the display surface. On my iMac at work, the contrast is less jarring. On the Samsung monitor I have hooked up to my MacBook Pro, I find the Lucida Grande unappealing. (On a similar note, I've noticed that the new "Inspec...

Re: Groups column

Hi Jon, I find a difference in typefaces used for the Groups column and the list view a little visually jarring. (I usually set my list view to Optima 12, as I find that typeface easy to read and appealing). As a future feature, I'd like to see the General/Default fonts pref for "Lists" al...
