Do this: 1. Open SBL Bib (Edit in Biblio -> Formats Manager). 2. Click to Bib & Citation tab. 3. At the bottom, place a period in field After (in Cited Pages). 4. Close. 5. Scan from your word processor. 6. Choose SBL Bib as your format. 7. You should see a period after the cited page (12). I j...

The SBL Bib format calls for a period after cited pages. If you remove that the trailing period in your footnote should not appear. Jon Sonny Software Yes, that's the problem. The trailing period is there in the SBL Bib and Footnote formats, but it's not showing up in my document. I used to be able...

The example you show indicates that the format you are using now has no before or after text entered for cited pages. Check the SBL format and see if this should be the case (second tab, at the bottom). Are you perhaps using "SBL footnote" directly instead of "SBL Bib" (which th...

If it worked yesterday and not today, I'd say some setting was changed or the format was somehow modified inadvertently. Why not download SBL again and replace the one you have?

I did that, with no luck.

My SBL just broke!

I'm using the SBL formatting style that Danny Zacharias developed, and it's been working just fine up until this morning. Now, instead of getting SBL footnotes in the proper format, I get... something else. For example, a citation from this: {Rambo, 1993, Understanding Religious Conversion@20-43} Sh...

I had set my default word processor correctly before, but I checked it again anyway. I didn't change it or anything else, but the next day when I used Bookends + Mellel again... everything worked.

Yes, Mellel is the default word processor in Bookends.

Transferred to new MacBook, problem with Mellel + Bookends

I was using Bookends + Mellel without difficulty on my old PowerBook G4, but the other day I switched to a MacBook and discovered a minor problem. It used to be that when I hit apple-Y in Bookends, the citation would be pasted into Mellel as an object. Now, when I hit apple-Y, Bookends copies the ci...

Thanks... you know, the italicized period fix occurred to me shortly after I posted, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. I'm assuming it'll work as long as Mellel doesn't automatically style adjacent punctuation.

Odd problem with italics in secondary order book citation

When I add page numbers as per the PDF tip - using @ - I end up with page numbers in italics. The citation format for secondary order book cites is: a, s. It appears that the italics are open-ended, however, and make my page numbers italics as well. Is there a way to prevent this? Am I using ...

Preventing styles at end of citation

I'm using Danny Zacharias' SBL citation format and I'm having a problem with page numbers. In secondary footnote citations, the SBL format is Surname, Short Title, page#. The secondary order format in Bookends that Zacharias set up looks like: a, s. Within my text (using Mellel), I set...
