10.2.1: Reference surfing is very nice
Just a word of encouragement and thanks. I find that the new "reference surfing" in 10.2.1 is a nice addition to the program -- especially since JSTOR searching now works. This is a very positive addition to my workflow. Now if only I could turn a four-click process into a one-click proces...
3. A nicely formatted export with plenty of options, so I can get the quotes, summaries, comments, and notes into my word processor or DEVONthik database Why you wouldn't take notes directly in DEVONThink? After much grief and suffering, I have completely given up on writing directly in DEVONthink....
Wow. Ten points to Gerben for the pointer to SlipBox. What a cool app. It's not perfect, but it has exactly what I'm looking for: 1. The ability to make nice, granular notes. I want to have one note per quote, summary, commentary. For a single book, this might yield dozens of notes 2. A convenient m...
This is a very, very good idea. I've been playing with Zotero a bit, and will continue to use it to scrape sources off web pages (Google Books + Zotero is mighty nice), but then for work, I export the references into Bookends. Hi terceiro, The solution you found, to suppress the citation, is the correct one. Actually, this feature was created to deal with this exact situation. Jon Sonny Software I can work with that. Ideally, of course, I'd like to have a solution within Bookends: there's something that makes my poor lit...

MLA in-text citation
MLA in-text citations are typically (Author page). For example: ... thus ousting the Romans (Hanks 45). When more than one text by an author is used, it's easy in Bookends to specify the correct text in \backslashes\. I don't mind that system a bit. However, MLA also has the provision that if the au...

Out-of-the-box MLA formatting is... lackluster. Ideally, you have the freedom to use strict MLA which, I believe, allows for endnotes instead of parenthetical references (see <http://www.aresearchguide.com/7footnot.html>), which Bookends can do easily. You will, however, still need to modify Bookend...
