Using UI scripting is most often quite a kludge. I do it sometimes when I have to work with an app that's not applescriptable. Results are rarely great. I could take a look at the UI of Bookends, if I heard more about what you're looking for. UI scripting in Applescript is unrelated to Automator act...

Move first paragraph of Keywords field into another field?

In version 8, I had the practice of putting the Library of Congress citation as the first paragraph of the Keywords field. Now in version 9, I'd like to move the first line of every Keywords field into the new Call Number field. Any way to automate this? :?:

... if you leave the cursor in the footnote it does not work and nothing happens when scanning. If you put the cursor back in the main text the scan works. I discovered this bug after much hair-raising frustration as well. I'm in Word 2004. The "Citing Pages" method is a good method, but ...

Jon, Thanks for providing your reasoning. I do think the ignoring UI Standards issue is not a small issue, though. Just see how mail.app had a similar poor use of a drawer that had to stay open in 10.1, .2, & .3, and then finally corrected it. But, I suppose a programmer lives and dies on her/hi...

I doubt many people work primarily in the reference window view This does make the questionable UI choice less of a problem. I'm also not sure why you care about the disclosure triangle in the center of the reference window -- don't use it. I care about it because you asked for feedback, and I gave...

Jon, Kuddos on the extra field work. A concern... I'm late coming to the game, but have you articulated why you're going with a drawer in lieu of a scrollable window view? I presume it has to do with the desire to have the vertical expanding notes field at the bottom of the window. Before you made t...

Well, I'm writing a Chicago format, myself. I'm using the "Notes" format (as opposed to author/date parenthetical format). So, the thing to do is create a Chicago Bibliography format and choose that as the format, and have it use a custom format for intext references, pointing to a second ...

Chicago Manual of Style Footnote Style

So, my dissertation form must follow: "...Chicago Manual of Style, supplemented by SBL Handbook..." The installed Chicago styles (and the Turabian styles as well) are putting in those parenthetical references in the footnotes instead of the proper footnotre reference format. Do I need to a...

Booxter import

I enjoyed using Booxter to load references, since I can scan bar codes with the camera. When I create an export file in TextBib format, Bookends doesn't handle the data very well. Last and First names are reversed. German characters were garbled. Publisher name and city are combined into Publisher f...
