Re: Europe PMC online import filter?
Thanks - Downloading and attaching a PDF works when I navigate to the article. In a perfect world, the multi-download interface that PubMed Central has could also be used with Europe PMC. In an even-more perfect world (or maybe one that exists and I don't know how to do it), multi-download through t...

Re: Europe PMC online import filter?
Thanks Jon. Europe PMC seems to have more hits. Try searching for "AerosolSense". This is the brand name of an instrument my lab uses for sampling viruses out of air, so I want to track whenever articles that use this machine are published. When I search in Pubmed, there are only 4 hits. W...

Europe PMC online import filter?
Hi there, I recently discovered that Europe PMC (https://europepmc.org) has outstanding scientific manuscript searching that unearthed a bunch of interesting papers that I had missed. Would it be possible to create an online search tool for this source? I looked through the existing formats and othe...

Re: Biorxiv
Coming back to this with delayed thanks - just saw that fallback to PubMed Central was added in the newest version. Seems to work great! Thanks again!

Re: Biorxiv
Thanks Jon, I had the misapprehension that the browser needed to navigate to a single paper and download papers one at a time. You are right. Performing a search in Medrxiv and clicking the down arrow seems to do what is necessary. In terms of Pubmed Central, I was searching with the 'Online Search'...

Re: Biorxiv
Thanks for looking into this Jon. I'm not sure the Bookends browser helps with the batch download issues. It is a great solution for single articles. Somewhat relatedly, is there any way to force Bookends to try to download the Pubmed Central version of an article in the Pubmed online search? When b...

Re: Biorxiv
Resurrecting this old thread. It now seems that there is API access to Medrxiv/Biorxiv (https://www.medrxiv.org/tdm). Is the API sufficient to enable direct online searching and batch downloading of articles?
Thanks!

Linking attachments by name
NCBI asks that their FTP Service be used when batch downloading manuscripts from Pubmed Central (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/tools/ftp/). I wrote a script downloads all the PDF files from Pubmed Central that match a given set of search terms from the FTP site and creates a medline-formatted fil...

Feature Request: Indesign endnote support
Hi Jon, After a recent update, Adobe InDesign now supports formatting bibliographies from in-text citations: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/endnotes.html Would it be possible to see if this makes it possible for Bookends to work more seamlessly with InDesign? I, along with several colleagues...

Hi there,
Has anyone made an import filter for Biorxiv (http://biorxiv.org) that they would be willing to share?
Thanks!

12.5 manual scan fails
Hi Jon, This morning I went to scan a complex text document as I've done since ~2006. Unfortunately, there seems to be a bug in 12.5 that causes it to lock up without scanning references. I tried it on two different computers, I tried rebuilding my database, and I tried scanning a document that I kn...

12.5 undesirable behavior
Hi there, Since updating to 12.5, the focus sometimes moves from the search box to the authors box automatically. This makes it very easy to accidentally erase the authors from a reference. Not sure if this behavior existed pre-12.5, but it impacted me a few times today on two different machines. To...

Searching in BOT?
Hi there, I recently purchased Bookends on Tap. First off, congrats on making a program that sync's so robustly. Getting my library synchronized with my iPad was a breeze. Two small issues, though, that I'm hoping you can help me solve: 1) After transferring my library with 4,500 attachments, I was ...

Kindle DX Synchronization
Jon, I have a BE feature request. I purchased a Kindle DX, primarily so I can take lots of PDF manuscripts with me when I travel. Unfortunately, there is no good way to manage PDF content on the Kindle; the Kindle mounts as an external USB device and PDF files are loaded into the Kindle's /documents...
