sync "error in atomic zone"
I get a "Cloud Sync Error" when I try to sync my iPad to the cloud. The error message lists a record ID then says "will not be saved because of previous error in atomic zone". I opened the sync preferences, unlinked the library, then synced again. But that still had the same erro...

Finding recently imported references
Is there a way to find the references that I recently imported? More specifically, when I import a reference, I would like to immediately display it so that I can annotate it and move it to the right manual groups.

Re: How to sync attachments with iOS devices
it would suffice to sync the mac contents to the IOS device, without doing the actual search on the IOS device. Of cousre, the IOS version would only be as up-to-date as the last sync, but I am ok with that. I'm not sure if there is a "feature request" thread here, but this is a feature I ...

Re: How to sync attachments with iOS devices
Alas, that didn't work. I now have a Bookends folder on iCloud, whether I look from the Mac or the iPad. On the iPad, my references that should have attachments all have solid blue paperclips. But when I click on the paperclip, nothing happens. I don't get attachments. And when I click on the Attach...

Re: setting up attachments for iCloud sync
I will try it when I get back into the office. I didn't think it applied to me, since I don't see a Bookends file on my IOS iCloud, either.

Re: How to sync attachments with iOS devices
Has anyone sync'd attachments between OSX and IOS using iCloud? I followed the instructions, and have all my citations, but NONE of my attachments, on the iPad. On the iPad, I do have (unshaded) paperclips next to the references with attachments. But when I click on them, nothing happens. Also, I do...

Re: Automatically tag or label citations
ok, I am still having trouble, even with this "opposite" suggestion. First, the field "user1" seems to sometimes be "key", and the manual says it is sometimes used to hold the "unique key". So, I will use "user4", which seems to be the first unused o...

How to sync attachments with iOS devices
I want to be able to see all the pdf attachments from my mac on my iPad. How do I do that?
Sorry if I'm missing something obvious. I set the preferences I could, and checked the manual. But Attachments on my iPad only has some fields, not the whole pdf.

Is there a way to mark a paper as "read"?
In Papers3 (my former pdf manager), there is a "read" flag that indicates whether I have read a pdf, and a "date read" field to say WHEN I read it. Is there similar functionality in BE?

Automatically tag or label citations
I would like to mark citations with information on which research project they are associated with, and I would like to flag papers that I have read (so I don't read them twice!) My usual workflow is to keep the "to read" papers in a group, one per research project. Then when I am done, re...

Re: How to migrate from Papers3 to Bookends
The migration process might be simpler if you keep the Papers3 attachment names. Here is a protocol for that. But I haven't tested it: 1. create new Bookends library 2. In Papers3, go to the "Library" prefs and uncheck the checkbox next to "Rename files in library folder as:", th...

Re: How to migrate from Papers3 to Bookends
Here is a summary of migrating from Papers3 to Bookends as of 2017-09-01. First, this is a good opportunity to clean up your library. If you clean up in Papers3, then you will simplify the transition. here is the process I used (but see the next post as well): P2B 1. create new Bookends library 2. e...
