You could try this Squidman http://homepage.mac.com/adg/SquidMan/index.html as a work around. Essentially you set up programs to use the squid proxy and it forwards it to your authenticating proxy and supplies the username/password. So any program that doesn't support authenticating proxies will work.

9.1 is indeed zippier. Thank you :) I had a slight problem with attaching PDF's. They were renamed and moved OK but the text entered into the database was being corrupted e.g. (after exporting to xml) <image> <style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">?????????????...

This is an Applescript I created to automate importing PubMed references from Safari. Half the script is manipulating Safari but it also shows how to use UI scripting to control import from the clipboard in Bookends. It should be relatively easy to modify it to import files (or simply scipt opening ...

Proxy quirk

The Uni where I work uses a password protected proxy. Since this is a pain I use SquidMan to redirect the proxies. Essentially app requests internet address, request is sent to squidman, squidman channels it though the Uni proxy and supplies the password. This works for the internet search in Booken...

Server no longer responding

I think the last time I used the server feature was in 9.0.4 and it worked fine. I've just been trying with both 9.0.6 and 9.0.7 and it serves the query page without any problems. It also correctly returns an error statement if you search for something that isn't in the database but it only returns ...

Beautifying server output

Appologies in advance if this has already been covered elsewhere and I overlooked it. In setting up the server for our group I was looking for some way of changing the look of the output from black and white. Since I couldn't see any way to do it directly in Bookends what I did was embed the main pa...

I think what the poster was talking about was making features of the web-interface more like Refman (http://refbase.sourceforge.net/) or Wikindx (http://wikindx.sourceforge.net/). I use Bookends but also run Wikindx internally so that everyone in the research group has access to the references and m...
