Well, i have the filter recognized by BE now.. The only way i once got this to work was by displaying the record(s) in Intermarc format (using the display option in the catalogue when viewing records, so not by emailing them), copy this and than use the import from the clipboard option. Gerben – I don't know which Mac software could do it, but it certainly is possible to query the public bnf server using z39.50 and get useful answers back . If you managed to create a filter for the BNF that works with copy-pasting, could you please upload it for me to steal? Jon – http://stereo...

It's a shame Bookends doesn't speak Z3950 directly - software that can, can connect to the BNF server without a problem.
