Anyone looking about to buy a copy of Bookends? Please read.
Bookends is as nice program and I purchased it a few months ago. But I haven't seemed to make use of all its additional features since I bought it (while I have continued to use endnote, as all my manuscripts are collaborative and the fellow authors are PC endnote users) Due to a recent financial st...

I have only used papers a couple of times when they first announced it. So let us see what I remember from that... 1. Slick, minimalistic and intuitive UI. Nice and clear icons very well laid out not just as mere eyecandy but rather make the functionality of the app more pleasant. 2. The scheduled s...

Discrepancy between no. of pubmed hits and no. downloaded
For a particular query with pubmed (through bookends) I get 588 matches and bookends asks me how many should I download— I say 100, it downloads only 40! Next for the same query I say get em ALL, it downloads some 376. What am I missing (besides the references I may be missing)? (Toggling 'Do not ...

Jon, I agree with you that there are just too many publishers and apparently a lack of standards in how full text articles are presented to the user. In that light. In that light I do commend your job. And I am not unrealistically asking it should work with every eerie journal out there. If you noti...

Failed full text downloads
Hi, Just thought of sharing a few things from my limited experience... While majority of the new articles from pubmed downloaded the full text, the following did not - yes I could do it manually from the OpenURL page through the link-out. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&am...

Thanks for all the fish!
Thanks for the insights about how you percieve Bookends with respect to Sente (although the forum seemed to have meandered towards BE vs Endnote!). I personally being an endnote user who is looking for alternatives, would agree with extremely sluggish development cycles it has gone through. I feel i...

Hi, This will be an interesting thread to watch. Note that there is no need to make a hasty or partially formed decision. Sente has a 30 trial, I believe, and Bookends has a time-unlimited trial (limited to 50 references, though, which should be enough to actually use it to write a paper of modest ...

Sente Vs Bookends
Hi, I am new to bookends. While I discovered it, I stumbled upon Sente as well. Although I have briefly tried both the Sente 4 and Bookends 9, I am still quite confused about which one I want to invest in. Has anyone done are aware of a feature by feature review of these two softwares? I would very ...
