Re: Phantom character style with scan

Ok, let's try... Seems that the setting stays on ASCII when I just generate the Bibliography in Bookends.

So does this mean it's a Mellel problem?

Phantom character style with scan

I'm using Bookends with Mellel and I've come across a weird style problem. When I scan the document and generate bibliography, everything looks fine but actually for some reason every line of the bibliography ends with line break defined having overriding character style for "Arial regular &quo...

Re: Limiting Autocomplete Paper

Exactly. Autocomplete for those occasions when there is no metadata and Autofill cannot be used. I totally get the point that "run autocomplete before global changes". But if I've already done manual changes to the refs, it's really frustrating that Autocomplete erases all the that I've do...

Limiting Autocomplete Paper

Hi again I've run into an annoying snag with Autocomplete, and I am wondering, can I somehow limit it to certain fields? If this is not possible yet, then I'd love to see this in the future version. A simple tick-box or something next to the autocomplete fields would be perfect. Like right now I hav...

Re: Feature question/request: Locking groups and folders

:D Thats not a bad idea either! This is again one of those cases where the problem – which is not really even a problem – can be solved in many ways. However, that's almost the same as just keeping the original manuscript file and running a scan on that. Which I guess most of us will do anyway. Alth...

Re: Feature question/request: Locking groups and folders

Frankly, I'm not sure many people would find this useful, but still interesting. Yeah, I totally see that. But I thought it's one of those ideas that if it's not too hard to implement it might just give the users more options. I've used the keyword method in the past. And yes, it does work. But it ...

Feature question/request: Locking groups and folders

Hello again I recently finished a large project and Bookends worked perfectly. Really, whatever remnants of sanity I have left, I pretty much owe to Bookends. Could not imagine doing the same kind of work without it. (I feel serious pity for earlier generations who had to do ref management by hand!)...

Re: Cleaning caches like suggested author names and keeping keywords & journals in check

Oooops... Sorry. Feel stupid now. Once again Bookends just has more than I know. Thanks for pointing that out.

Cleaning caches like suggested author names and keeping keywords & journals in check

Hi again. This is a very minor issue, but something that I've been wondering for awhile now. Is there a way to "purge the cache" of author names in the database? Because I have noticed that Bookends seems to remember also older names I have entered there. This affects the way Bookends sugg...

Re: Use year-only for repeated authors with Custom Citation Opt

Well, I wasn't trying to argue what's common and what's not. And I totally understand that you can't accommodate for everything and everyone. Like you said, this is an issue for mostly arts, humanities, social sciences, etc. softer stuff. And sure, my example was a bit exaggerated. But it can and do...

Re: Use year-only for repeated authors with Custom Citation Opt

Could I bring this old topic back up. This is my number one problem with Bookends at the moment. Just like the previous user, I would like to show two dates for some citations: the year of the edition I am using, and the original date of publication. I am also using a custom field for this (u11). Th...

Linking several refs to one attachment?

Hi again. I got a question about linking several references to one attachment file. I wonder if anyone can tell me how to do this quickly. Mostly this applies to edited books with each chapter from a different author. Basically, I realised at some point that it does not make any sense to split the e...

Re: Publisher city and state

I'd like to continue this topic. It would be nice if for the future versions you could either: a) Add a separate field for Publisher state/country (or even separate fields for both?) b) Make the city field parse differently in different formats. This is to accommodate different citation formats, for...

Control inclusion/exclusion of middle names?

I'd like to know if there's a way to control the inclusion of middle names? I mean, at the moment we get to use either initials or full name, but is there a way to use full name WITHOUT middle names (or have them in abbreviated form)? Here's the situation. I like to enter middle names into the datab...
