Re: Attachments not found
I have started getting this error after updating to Catalina. Any idea if this is caused by "Optimized File Storage" (which I think is turned off), or is this a known issue on Catalina? My attachments are showing fine in the attachment browser, inspector, etc., but when I try to open the P...

Re: Standardize Journal Names... greyed out?
Nope, I didn't have that - missed that part. Turned it on, and now all good - thanks Jon!

Standardize Journal Names... greyed out?
I really like the idea of standardizing journal names, but when I select a set of references the 'Standardize Journal Names' option under Refs/Global Change is greyed out. Is this feature still not functional?

Re: What is "normal" iCloud syncing behavior?
Hey folks - is there any update on this? Bookend sync has become almost unusable for me because of the constant login nagging - at least once every day on each of my computers. I haven't experienced this behavior with other programs storing data in iCloud (e.g. 1Password), so is there something spec...

Re: Column display error
Thanks Jon. So I think my main issue is what you mention in your FYI "the last column will always extend to the right" - is there a way to not make that happen? The issue with that is that it brings up the horizontal scroll bar, which isn't needed (at least not in my case).

Column display error
Bookends v13.0 here. I have had a bug since v12, where column 6 is displayed in the List View and is very wide. I have it set as "Unused" in the preferences, and the same for Column 7. The issue is that I can't get rid of this column (and for whatever reason it displays a little '5'), and ...

Multiple issues with sync
Just adding to my previous suggestion about group-specific attachment syncing. It unfortunately turns out that I can get syncing to properly work at all. A couple of things: 1. I read the iOS user guide and followed the "To create the Bookends iOS sync folder on your Mac, you must perform a few...

Sync attachments only from certain groups?
Hi folks, First of all, very excited to see Cloud Syncing! Second of all, I unfortunately can't use it in its current form because I have a large library and can't possibly sync all my PDFs :(. Similar to the Wifi sync, do you have any plans to allow for the syncing of PDFs from only a subset of gro...

Re: Best solution for exporting to Paperpile?
Thanks Jon. I think I found the culprit - the current format of RIS in BE doesn't output the attachment information, BUT that can be added in automatically. I did that and now I *think* things are working as expected - if not, then it's on the Paperpile side. Here's what my modified RIS format ended...

Best solution for exporting to Paperpile?
Hi, I'm trying to sync up my BE and Paperpile library nicely so I can write papers in Google Docs. I'd like to export my entire Bookends library and have each reference WITH its pdf attached in Paperpile. Is there a way to achieve that? In the Paperpile documentation they talk about doing a RIS expo...

Many "can't find attachment" errors over the last couple of months
Hi, I'm using BE 12.6.5 and I have my library on Dropbox - the library is shared across three computers but I never have BE open on more than one. The paths for Dropbox are slightly different between the computers (my home folder is called 'kga' on one computer and 'andersen' on the other two). I ha...

Re: Cloud syncing?
Time to revive this question - any news on this end? This is still the single most requested features and with most of the competitors going to the cloud (some of them fully - e.g. Paperpile, Mendeley, etc), we really really need to have a way for Bookends to automatically sync to other devices. My ...

[1-3] instead of [1, 2, 3]
Hi Jon, Using Mellel as my WP I have multiple instances of several consecutive references one after the other. It goes like this: text {ref1}{ref2}...{refN} (replacing }{ with ; doesn't make a difference). When I format my references I get text [1,2...,N], but what I really want is text [1-N]. Is th...
