That's the way the Library of Congress exports them (see for yourself in the MARC record shown below the online search list -- that's what Bookends is actually parsing). I have been adding books to my database by using Online search and import from Library of Congress. However, I have noticed a consistent problem that I have not been able to resolve. There is always a period after the authors name and there is always a space before the colon. See the attachment. My ...

Proper form for ISBN

As I am entering ISBN numbers, it seems there is a difference. LOC has strictly numbers. But when I enter by hand a book that I have read, then it has dashes.

What is the proper way to enter the ISBN in Bookends? Or is there a proper way?
