Re: 4 Questions
Sorry Jon I forgot to comment about Lion. Yes, I am using Lion. I normally have the settings set to reopen windows etc should there be a crash. The problem with the rebuilding was it was happening every single time I opened it. Saying that though, I tried once more last night and for some strange re...

Re: 4 Questions
The DropBox won't be of any interest. But why care where Bookends keeps backups? One reason for the location, BTW, is because Apple requires this for apps sold on the Mac App Store. The other advantage is that there is no ambiguity -- I can tell the user where the backup is. A common question I get ...

Re: 4 Questions
Quick update. The same thing has happened when opening the library from the mac. Wanting to rebuild. If I ignore it, it seems to be fine. I have tried syncing to a new database on the usb stick which seemed to work at first. However, on closing I got the following error as shown on the screen shot. ...

Re: 4 Questions
Righto Jon, I will try and clarify better. 1. Not sure what you mean by symlink. As I said, I have been trying to use my one database on a usb stick. Main reason in case I don't have access to the internet. 2. & 3. Not quite. I only have the one library which up until now I have kept on my usb s...

4 Questions
I am sure these have been asked before, or at least two of them! Can't seem to find where they might be. 1. How do I change the destination backup directory? 2. How do I change the normal database? 3. Whenever I open Bookends, it opens with 3 copies. How do I stop this? 4. I have tried to keep my li...

Re: New User Questions
I have had a reply from the OU about my references/questions about Serial Solutions. My replies are also included....... "Serial Solutions provides the One Stop Search facility which is available from the bottom of the Library home page. Is this what you are searching to find your references? A...

Re: New User Questions
Jon and all. Sorry for the delay. The OU did reply quickly but my health problems got in the way of replying here on the forum. Sadly the gist of the reply was because it is not a "supported" software there was not much they could do to help. I did pursue it about the "Serial Solution...

Re: New User Questions
Macula: Just to clarify; Paper's own browser within the Paper's program works faultlessly. I can login, browse to the library within the Uni site and do searches etc. Also it is the same when using a normal browser. Although I am going to contact the tech department at the OU, it does seem strange t...

Re: New User Questions
Just tried again after re-reading your post Jon. I typed in depression as an example into the browser and this is what I got: To allow https://psycom.net/depression.central.html to be used in a starting point URL, your EZproxy administrator must first authorize the hostname of this URL in the config...

Re: New User Questions
Yes, that is what happened ( ( think). I put the EZ address in the preferences. Opened Search with Bookends Browser then clicked on the tiny arrow to open the OU site ready for login. This I did and had no problem getting to my "student home" page. It seems to be when I try to access the l...

Re: New User Questions
Ah thanks. I will try that shortly. What I have done and discovered is that the EZ proxy seems to work in a different way to what I thought on Bookends compared with any browser and even Papers. I have read the user guide to do with EZ proxy, and apparently you have to do a search with pubmed or one...

Re: New User Questions
Thanks ozean. I have tried various other programs but am having to slow down and make a decision else all my time will be taken up instead of starting my next course  I am liking Bookends more and more and I am sure Jon is getting fed up of my emails on questions by now! I am getting much more ...
