Re: The Bookends Guide to the SBL format

I'm looking for the SBL format for Bookends 11. It looks like it was in the original post, but has been removed. Anyone know where I can get this?

Re: Shortcut to create New Note???

I think the lack of discussion may simply be due to people being overwhelmed by the long thread. I suggest posting a new discussion thread posing the question succinctly.

Re: Shortcut to create New Note???

I would add to what Mr. Higgins is saying in that one of the benefits of this system, verses a mere "search" is that they keyword "D-Day" may not actually be contained in the individual notecards. This is where this concept of "tagging" or creating a "Note stream&q...

Jon wrote:I realized there is already a shortcut for adding a notecard: type Shift-Enter while the note stream is showing. You can use this while waiting for Command-[ in 11.2.5 (which is coming soon).
Doesn't work for me.

Re: Shortcut to create New Note???

I'm sorry, Jon. Thanks for the clarification. I got my feathers ruffled for nothing. I misread your post about it *not* being copied as the default (except for only copying the notecard). Please forgive me for any grief I have caused you today. Thanks for your help and willingness to listen.

Re: Shortcut to create New Note???

No one is using headers yet. Please just wait for the feature to appear, then give your feedback. I don't mean to come across as abrasive, but my opinion will remain the same. When I'm copying & pasting a notecard with a citation in the middle of a paragraph of text, I don't want to have to rem...

Re: Shortcut to create New Note???

I don't agree. I think "Copy notecard" (unlike Copy citation or Copy notecard and citation) should copy the entire contents of the notecard. We'll see how it works in the real world when it's released. I think you should get some input from others. I wouldn't consider the header as actual...

Re: Shortcut to create New Note???

Both. I don't think either of those should be copied at any time, unless specified. That would get annoying very quickly.

Re: Shortcut to create New Note???

Searching/smart groups is available now. Headers coming in 11.2.5. But remember, a header is just text (in the Notes field). You can create them now (and they'll just appear as normal notecards now). The problem with using them now is that they import into my document along with the notecard. Defin...

Re: Hierarchical notecards

Looks great, Jon. One thing you might consider is indenting notes that are related to a header to distinguish between those attached to a header & those that are not. Sorta the opposite of what you had originally.

Re: Shortcut to create New Note???

You can of course search notes for certain words, so if you had a notecard header in multiple references ("D-Day"), you could search for all references that had a notecard header with that "tag" (Find, or the live search box). You could create smart groups to do this for you as ...

Re: Shortcut to create New Note???

That looks a little more like what I'm talking about. Using the #Title as what I would call a tag to group your notes. That would definitely be better, but the method I was thinking would not just group notes in one source, but would span multiple sources. Currently, the tags span multiple sources, ...

Re: Shortcut to create New Note???

Thank you for your suggestions. I looked at each one of these apps. None of them are what I am looking for. Bookends is the app and has been working for me. It's just difficult managing multiple notes per source. Here's an example: I am writing a book on Discipleship. With this, I will have probably...

Re: Shortcut to create New Note???

We may need to open another discussion on this, or it may just fold immediately due to the complexity, but I at least wanted to ask. What is the possibility of tagging individual notes, verses sources? To me that makes a lot more sense, because I use Bookends for sources that will be used for a vari...
