Re: Bookends doesn't run in Catalina betas -- update

Found this on https://developer.apple.com/documentation/macos_release_notes/macos_catalina_10_15_beta_5_release_notes on the most recent build of Catalina: AppleEvents New Features To enhance security, AppleEvents and AppleScripts that target an app on a remote system must authenticate as the same u...

Re: Bookends doesn't run in Catalina betas -- update

Very good!

Turning on "Full Disk Access" seems to have fixed problem #1 (error message on attachments), but not yet problem #2 (e-mailing).

I also turned on access for Bookends under the "Accessibility" section, but this didn't help with the e-mail issue either.

This is probably also true for another problem I just encountered: E-mailing entries doesn't seem to work anymore (no error message though). (This is true also for newly created entries.)

Yes, in the iCloud sync folder – displayed like this in Bookends’ preferences:

Code: Select all

Re: Bookends doesn't run in Catalina betas -- update

Thanks for the update, Jon. My main problem with Bookends in the most recent Catalina beta revolves around PDF attachments. With almost all entries where I have these, I get error messages that state: Couldn't open PDF document XXX.pdf Do you know of a fix? This does not happen for newly created ent...

Re: Problem with .ris export from SAGE

Well, you’re right of course…

(But but but that would require that I change something, but it was THEM that threw a stick into my vulnerable .ris import wheel! THEY should change, not ME! Hehe. )

Re: Problem with .ris export from SAGE

I guess the problem with that solution would be that I would then need to change this for everyone else… But maybe Sage will change this back anyway, this is at least the response that I got a couple of minutes ago: thank you for your detailed response. It appears you are not the only one who has no...

Problem with .ris export from SAGE

Hi all, for a couple of weeks, importing citations from SAGE based publications has become burdensome, because it looks like they now do not export names in the format SURNAME, PRENAME but as PRENAME SURNAME Which causes Bookends to import this in a wrong way. (And this makes importing ris from them...

Sounds helpful to me. What would be potential problems with this?

Re: [Feature Request] Post processing Imports for DOIs

Not sure about the technical side, but some kind of automatic solution would be welcomed. Recently, importing SAGE’s .ris files started to populate the DOI field with two entries separated by a line break – I always forget to correct this when importing the .ris and then have to go back to do this w...

Re: setting up attachments for iCloud sync

Just as additional info: I have a large attachment folder in the default location: ~2200 attachments, the folder size is ~6.5 GB, and the largest PDF file is 270 MB (thanks to Preview’s inflation of scanned PDFs as soon as I begin highlighting etc.).

Re: setting up attachments for iCloud sync

Thanks for the reply and additional information. I still could not get it to work. When I select iCloud Drive in Bookends preferences, it always switches to /Users/ozean/Desktop instead. My iCloud drive is active, and it has plenty of empty space (I have a 1 TB subscription and use only about a quar...

setting up attachments for iCloud sync

I have just downloaded the new Bookends for iOS app and want to switch to Cloud syncing. I set up the library and library syncing seems to work fine (I had some strange double confirmations of the in-app purchase – once in German and one more time in English). OT: In contrast to BoT, I do not get mu...
